Are people banned in this game for being bad?

I listed this under Gameplay because that's what is has to do with, albeit not playing the game very well.

When I play new characters, I typically learn them with bots, do well, then try them online. But even playing with bots on intermediate is not much of a challenge. So, I do much worse against people.

This last game was a draft and I was assigned jungle. My typical jungle characters were all banned or taken, so I had to take someone I've never played before and did awful. I didn't even know the abilities.

I died a lot. About nine times and no kills or assists. But about half of those deaths were from trying to and sometimes successfully saving another teammate (I used the scare ability on Fiddlesticks, who doesn't seem like a strong champion).

After that, two or three of my teammates kept asking each other to report me for feeding. One of the guys was toxic right off the bat and I muted him. For some reason, he even started stealing the gold from monsters purposely.

Curious if that's usually enough to get a ban.

As long as you don't respond in any type of way and don't chat at all you should be good. Riot tends to ban people for typing a lot

I responded, but I didn't say anything insulting. I just read in another topic not so say anything and just mute them.

You don't have to say anything insulting to get punished. Riot won't ban the guy following you around stealing your CS purposely but they'll punish you for saying something about it, even though it isn't toxic or insulting. Nice system Rito :>

It happens. A lot of times in norms I will get randomly smashed, look up the players after the match and the enemy team will be 1 gold (my rank) 3 plats, and a diamond (who I vs'd). So I get smashed. Nothing to really do about it.

Not at all, unless dying is intentional its usually easy to tell if someone is inting.

Sometimes you just get wrecked. But Riot can tell the difference between this and intentionally feeding, so you have nothing to fear.

I'm sorry you had such a rough game. I've been there too and I know it sucks. It's worse in situations like yours where teammates are flaming you all the while.

Thanks for the responses.

My fault for not being proficient on the champion. Even though it was the first time I've played Fiddlesticks, I'm not sure I would have done all that much better playing against bots for a while. The AI games just dont simulate games well. I've practiced to the point where I've gone 43-3 with a champion against intermediate bots and then get absolutely destroyed once I start playing against real people.

You will not get banned for playing badly. Everyone has off days, tries new stuff and whatnot. Your teammates were just salty so don't read much into it. About fiddlesticks, try to get level 6 as soon as possible and try engaging fights using your R over walls

If you want I can teach you fiddlesticks, but let it be known he makes a better mid laner or support than he does jungler in his current state.

Currently on a 12 game win streak as fiddle support on my plat smurf
