Tank itemization

I'd say the best way for this to work would be giving the champions themselves defenses and playmaking possibilities and making tank items where they would get most of their damage tools. Im mostly talking about buffing item 3068 and item 3075 and making them more effective for what they are. item 3068 I would just buff the minion damage if anything maybe like 75-100% total bonus damage to minions and monsters amd call it a day for that one. item 3075 just needs to be better maybe change the damage from the tiny amount of flat we have now back towards a percentage of what's coming in before resistances and a small amount of scaling with your defenses like now. That's just my 2cents let me know what you would change or your ideas, thanks for reading and have a good day.

Careful. People are going to cry “tank meta tank meta” and downvote to hell.

But tank items suck because they get ripped to shreds by core items.

The cape already does the damage it needs to clear out the minions (it's consistent damage after all) and they buffed the duration of the grievous wounds for Thorn (finally!), so I feel like Thorn is fine as is.

Still, I favor playing tanks, and it feels like I don't have the protections I need more often than not and not have the utility my team needs, I feel like more than just the two tank items that deals damage that are already played the most are in need of improvements. In fact, because Omen is generally just used again a super fed ADC (and not all ADCS use crit), I sadly find that to be become a bit of a niche item.

Sadly this game became "burst quicker than them before they burst you".

Buffing thornmail is risky its so uninteractive, it can just completely screw some champs. I would like the % reflect back though would probably have sacrifice the extend grievous duration that its gotten, feels pathetic when adc's heal through the reflect damage.

I would leave juggernaut built beef items alone, as juggs are a much more volatile/sensitive class balance wise. So that's your sunfire/deadmans. Thornmail shouldn't be buffed as it's an uninteractive item that punishes enemies for doing their jobs. I like that it discourages the enemy from focusing you down first, but it should really just be the niche greivous wounds items tanks needed.

If you really wanna buff tank items, we can start by returning the 1400+ (I was corrected ages ago, it's 2K I think but couldn't find comment) health, 100 armour and around 80 MR that has been ripped from tank items over the years

So what you are saying is you want more tankie dps?

Yeah no. Tanks tank. Side note: Sick of players playing Juggs thinking there is skill in the champ other than butting heads.

I'm no designer so I don't know what the solution is, but these days even when I'm playing a tank (which is most of the time --> Malphite) I build towards AD more than tank because frankly it's just more effective against the types of top laners you get these days. That said I definitely prefer to play my role (the tank), it's just not really plausible or effective in early game to do so. Its far better to be able to harass and push back as you really can't get beefy enough early to mid game to challenge most (almost want to say all) non tank top laners.

The advantage of a tank is to be tanky, to be able to take the hits and push on but that just is not the case in League right now, at least not at my level, perhaps it's different at higher divisions.

With Malphite for example I start my build with item 1056 and build towards item 3285 in early game. I typically don't see much in the way of tank items like item 3075 or item 3068 until mid game and more often than not I will push for a item 3135 because its usually more advantageous for my team to burst damage with CC, than it is to have survivability. It's why I often win matches with an upside down Kill/Death ratio as I tend to sacrifice for the CC, due a bunch of damage, die horribly while my team cleans up for the win. It's become almost a quasi support role at this point but suffice to say I'm rarely the super tank I could be late game.
