Shield and Heal support item nerf

5/31 PBE Update: New Summoner Icon, Emote, and Tentative Balance Changes

I understand why Riot is Nerfing Heal and Shield Support items, but I never felt that Heal and Shield Supports were especially strong. "Omg, a Lulu is coming, run" said noone, ever (or at least anytime soon).

Are Champions like Lulu going to compensated for the nerf? Otherwise, isnt it just a nerf to "meh" champions?

Sure, supports like Lulu bring good shields, but they dont bring much else. If you weaken that then just play a mage support and kill both the shield support and their ADC.

Just because a heal/shield support is not a damage threat making you run away from them doesn't mean they are not strong.

People more tend to say "omg, it's a Lulu, we will never be able to kill her carries". There are more ways to be a strong champion than just being a killing machine. Being able to make your killing machines immortal, for example.

Lulu is toxic for more reasons then "running after you" or "she can shield". A lot of people really dislike playing against a lulu and probably if the meta wasn't filled with uber strong carries, we'd see more bans for enchanters like her.

But in general though, enchanters, particularly shielders like janna and lulu have been incredibly too powerful for the longest time. They don't really have any cost to using their shields so they can pretty much passive the entire laning phase (or with lulu, aggressive) and negate any and all poke. You can't really lose lane with an enchanter unless you overstep into a hook or binding, or the ADC/enchant gets too aggressive. At least with an enchanter like soraka, she breaks down from paying her own health.

That being said, just the fact shields can be this strong, and stack up with locket + the champs + aery + bloodthirster + overheal is a little ridiculous. Toning it down by this little is just a step in the right direction.

Damage supports are back. Because adc dmg is pushed back, early damage supports rise up again. Next, we are going to tank support buffs, because it's their turn. They were nerfed recently, so now they need to sit out their turn of reverse rock-paper-scissors. (rock=tank, paper=heal/shield, scissors=dmg)
