I want to talk about lux's shield.

Hello there. Thank you for clicking on this discussion. Now some of you might have been expecting "wah wah they nerfed my main and now I'm gonna cry about it", but I'm going to try to avoid that, regardless that she is, in fact, my main. And I do agree that she can be oppressive. With that being said, I think the shield change was a bit too much.

I am 110% fine with how they changed how the shield moves slower, you can keep that. But what I'm talking about here are the base shield and the ratio. It is, bar none, the worst shield in the game now. And this isn't me complaining. Statistically, it is the worse. Lux's shield shields for 50/65/80/95/110 with a 20% ap ratio. Now to give you an idea on how low this shield is, vicktor's Q, at last rank, has the exact same shield base and ratio as lux's shield last rank. But the difference is that vicktor's q can also chunk somebody, and gives movement speed once its been upgraded. Sona's shield shields for 35/55/75/95/115 with a 20% ap ratio, which is not only higher base than lux's shield, but also comes with a heal.

Now you might be thinking, that she can shield her entire team with it. Now feel free to correct me on my math or my build, but a standard lux build is morello, ludens, zhonya's, void staff, and deathcap with sorc or ionian shoes. Which, without runes and masteries, gives 648 ap. 20% of that is 129.6. so a full build castor can shield an ally for 250 damage...late game. A tank isn't going to notice a 250 health shield and a squishy, which includes you, won't be helped by it if anyone gets close enough to you. Now for the return trip, it drifts back slower so you can potentially aim it to get the shield on everyone again, but it comes back so slow that if you try to get the shield on everyone again, you pretty much have to drop what your doing and aim it, which is bad because you can be losing potential damage. Now, lets give karma the same build I mentioned before, and have her use her mantra'd shield. with all the ratio's calculated for, her entire team gets 282 shield, and a 60% movespeed increase...except for the person she actually put the shield on, who gets 564 shield and the same movespeed. That one team wide shield gives a bigger shield and a sivir ultimate. And the cooldown isn't much longer.

I agree that the shield needed nerfs, but I hope this long-ass post can at least convince you that it was a bit too much, but let me know your guys opinions.

I don't see how you're losing potential damage on a cool down based mage by trying to hit multiple people with your shield.

Also, the Karma comparison is silly, using it on her shield means she's doing less damage or providing less cc and sustain to herself in exchange for the shield, Lux does not lose anything at all for using her shield. Lux can also do that twice as often as Karma as well since at max rank Lux W is on a 10 second cool down where as Karma R is on a 36 second cool down before factoring in passive.

Nah, don't think stuff like that <3

I can give feedback :3
Lux shield also now stacks and refreshes.
Did you account for that in your calculations?

After stacking and refreshing, it shields for around 500, which isn't bad, but that's assuming it hits twice, which I've already talked about.

Hits Lux twice for sure :3 It's nothing to scoff at for sure.

I'm still pretty well convinced that her shield is alright as of now. While it's definitely useful and can be powerful, I don't think it's the most integral part of her kit, nor does it really define how she plays and what she does, which is the reason why Rito nerfed it, and not the other parts of her kit.

did you forget about the return shield which have 40% ap ratio, that plus the first shield can be MASSIVE! If you have 650 ap and you hit at least one of your teammate, the total shield you can get is 330 + 650 * 0.6 = 720. That is a massive shield, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think ANY champion has a bigger shield than this and if there are, their shield is probably single targeted. If you can hit all 4 of your teammates, in a team fight(which I've done before), that's a shield that could potentially soak 4000 ish damage.
