Rise of Sterak's Gage

I've been noticing a rising trend with the item item 3053. What was originally meant as a simple damage option for bruisers that still wanted tank stats has quickly been gaining speed more as an item meant as an anti-burst tool for basically anyone that builds AD. Champions like Fiora, Graves, and even those with incredibly low base AD's like Kindred and Miss Fortune have begun to fit this item into their builds simply due to the free shield the item supplies when you get too hurt. Not to mention the AD bonus doubles during the shield duration, turning the rough 20-25 AD one previously had to 40-50 during a big fight.

My only question is, why has no cried foul on this item despite how quickly it's becoming every AD's tool to counter assassins? Unlike item 3156 , which only counters magic damage burst, this item is health, one of the safest forms of defense in the game. Didn't Riot specifically say they didn't want these juggernaut items to appeal to squishy ADC's and assassins?

Feel free to share any thoughts on you have the subject.

I remember when it came out and people stated it was no good. The items it builds from are good in lane, and it's a good 2nd or 3rd item for many AD type champs.

I don't really see that big a deal. If adc's are picking it up as their defensive item, thats fine. It scales off of max health and base ad, of which adc's have little of both. In fact, its only really a good pickup on an adc that builds a sheen item, to make better use of the sheen effect. But even still.......

Its also just worse if the damage being blocked is magic damage because maw is better overall. But if they are using it to survive a Zed's burst? I have absolutely no problem with that.

Because its actually a very acceptable niche item? I don't see how this is a problem.. If you are noticing players are actually utilizing it for its intended purpose, id say thats a good thing. Too many "omg 1 shot so op no counter play MissFortune item 3508 item 3006 item 3031 item 3094 item 3072 item 3139 and i can't even kill tanks"

I think it's fine and strongest on who it was supposed to be for. I always pick it up situationally. It's not crowding out other options in non-ideal scenarios like Dead Man's Plate was.

Stop bullying Sterak's Gage. It's not being abused by Marksmen and Assassins, so let them build it.

I tend to agree that with the nerf of so many items (Cough AP itemization Cough) Sterak's Gauge has become a bit too ubiquitous and could stand to suffer a couple of nerfs... let it keep the burst defense but chunk down the damage it provides.

Sterak's Gage is really bad on a lot of DPS champions because the AD it provides is base AD, not bonus AD. With Sterak's, Fiora, for example, gains 0 damage on her passive, 0 damage on her Q, and 0 damage and healing on her R.
