Lissandra Support?

Hey guys,

I was playing a fill game and got mid, but my Malzahar got banned (surprise). Since Lissandra was free and I'd tried her the last time she was free with reasonable success, I decided to go for it again. After a fairly successful game, a teammate brought up that she could be used as a support as well. It seems off-meta, but I thought I'd try it.

My first game went well, 2/3/18. However, my second game wasn't nearly as good, as I went 1/9/12 in a loss.

Is it just me, or could Lissandra be a good support? Her Q has slows, her W has an AoE root, she has great engage, and she has wicked cc on her ult. Even with all this, I get scoffs and other similar reactions when I suggest it or choose to play it. I must be missing something. Why isn't she ever played as a support? Can any one offer any good reasons?

She can be a good support, but not in every matchup. Don't even try picking her against poke heavy supports like Lulu. Due to her rather short range its best to pick her in matchups where the enemy support can't outrange you by much and they lack CC to peel. She absolutely crushes Sona in lane since Sona can't peel pre 6.

Treat her like a dive / hard engage support. Harass with Q until your ready to engage, then E, W and R if you have it. Your ultimate can also pretty much guarantee a kill every time if your AD carry is paying attention.

And as a side note. ALWAYS pick her with a lane bully AD carry. Support Lissandra is all about pushing an early lead and snowballing off of it. Without that lead, your not going to be very useful late game. I also tend to build more tanky when playing her as support.

She is good with little gold, because of the cc in her kit, but beyond that she doesn't offer much. She is short ranged and she needs to put herself in danger to try to root somebody, to try to slow (or take creeps). I imagine post laning phase it would be much better than in laning phase. The real 'problem' though, is that other supports offer everything she does better. You want peel? There are better supports. You want engage? There are better supports. You want damage? There are better supports.

The TLDR is she can support, but she is less effective than other supports at doing it.
