Should I buy Thresh?

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the LoL forums, so let me know if this is in the wrong place.

I've been saving up to buy a new champion recently and now have over 6300 IP. Since I main support (my main two are Trundle Trundle and Braum Braum ), I've been thinking about expanding my champion pool in that area. I've been seriously considering Thresh Thresh , as he seems to be able to make insane plays, but I have one concern.

Will people click the lantern?

For this question to make sense, you have to understand that I don't play at a high level and haven't entered the world of ranked games. My concern is that I will become overly frustrated by my teammates' ignorance of my lantern. For the sake of argument, let's say I'm around a high Bronze level. Is this a serious concern for me? Should I refrain from buying Thresh because of this?

Thanks for any tips!

Buy him, one of the funniest champs in the game and super easy to carry. people do take the lantern ('cept a few people but they would be useless regardless of your champ lol). I don't even play supp but I q it just for some fun easy threshin also look up the level 2 thresh engage

People not clicking the lantern isn't really an elo issue, but just a running joke when someone actually does forget the lantern

I bought Thresh not too long ago and have had incredible fun playing solo with him, he's an incredibly good support (and I barely play support). I only really play Braum (although freelo Blitz and Raka are in my pool as well) and Thresh is similar in the aspects of utility tank but he trades Braum's impenetrable body block style for more utility

As a Thresh main with a 3.5 KDA as him right now, people clicking the lantern isn't really the problem, the problem is usually that when you throw the lantern you expect your allies to move in one direction so you throw it there, but they move unto a location that isn't near the lantern therefore no longer in their reach, but there is the occasional bafoon that doesn't click it, but seeing as your high bronze, you should be careful of the timing with the lantern, sometimes it could displace an ally and put them in harms way or you use it pre-emptively and later needing it in a better situation a few seconds later. But do not be afraid to use it for the shield, the shield is small but it makes a huge difference.

Actually people click the lantern often. I myself do not as much as I should, but sometimes it happens. Anyhow, most people click the lantern cause thresh has been around for awhile now, so people know him and how he works. Only new players won't know.

Also Thresh is a good pick.

in ranked that shouldn't be a huge issue, remember that he lantern also shields them, utilize that as well.

If you know how to do sweet setups and/or peels, go for it. Just know when to engage and when not to engage. But in a team of not-so-smart people, almost anything Thresh does can actually lead to effective results because his hard CC is hard to go unnoticed. Since you play a good deal of Braum and Trundle, Thresh shouldn't be too hard to learn if you know the supporting and mechanical basics.

And speaking of the lantern... it depends. Even people higher up forget to click it sometimes. They actually can't click them when CC'd, and the "teleport" can be interrupted.
