Evelynn OTP wondering about build

This is my build right now https://imgur.com/a/A1Mbi These are pretty standard except the Gage, but in 90% of my games, the enemy team is likely to have a few very fed carries that can burst out a lot of damages which meant that after killing one, I will have to deal with the others without majority of my kit. So i have Gage as a pure tanking for survival longer in battles. It procs a lot more often then you think even if I build up distance between them with my ult. And I get away low enough that gage was the saving grace.

This build and play style has helped me in climbing ranks significantly, bringing me from plat II to diamond IV. But looking at top evelynn players, they usually go for a oblivion orb and then lich blade. Then proceeds to deathcap, so my questions are:

1.Why not prototbelt? I would have thought the small distance push + e would give you an instant gap closer between your detection range and the target, thus guarantee a charm with e and 3 stacks on q. Also, it clears the minions if the target decided to avoid your q by moving through minions, in some rare cases, removes the spell shield as well. It just seem to be so useful in general and the absolute core in my build. But no higher ranking player builds it. Why?

2.Deathcap,Lich blade > survival items. Majority of top ranking evelynn builds deathcap/lich blade as their third/fourth item which provide no defensive stats, wouldn't this make them extremely vulnerable once you ulted and their team decide to chase after you? By this point, their team would have had at least one well fed carry. So wouldn't it makes sense to build defense as long as you are still capable of OS their carry. Although oblivion orb provide some health, but in general it is not enough for me to take 3-4 hits from their carry. 3.** Lich blade effectiveness**. It does seem like an attractive item to build given how close you are to the target is as a mage, but it comes at an awkward time for my build as I am seeking for survival after my protobelt. It is not cheap either. In addition, the time frame between your first proc to the disengage with ult is usually less than 3 sec, so realistically, most of the time it is just one single proc which can also be realized by the protobelt active albeit slightly less damage.

I think the idea of stacking lots of flat ap is because of her extremely high ratios and her passive healing. Since lategame you can oneshot squishies instantly from stealth, and then ult out of necessary. If your team is there you likely won't get chased anyway.

Lich Bane actually is a noob trap when built early on in the game. It's only worth building after things like deathcap and void staff(if they're building MR) have been completed. Dark Orb is also a huge noob trap many people are falling for, assuming they are also building sorcs with it. After your W, sudden impact, and sorcs, the additional flat mpen doesn't contribute much at all onto your intended targets, so an NLR or revolver contribute more damage to your combo, with revolver being the highest.

Since revolver is the highest dmg you can get after finishing jg item and sorcs, I've started building GLP after the jg item and sorc shoes. It adds the most damage to your combos, especially for its gold value, and because of the active on its slow, you can pickup red smite in lieu of blue smite. The active does lock your movement, but it doesn't prevent you from casting abilities, so you can cancel the animation of GLP active with your Q, with the slow lending to more reliable long range charm procs. The cdr is also amazing for your ult's uptime, allowing you to go for bigger plays more often and have more presence as a result.

But hey, if what you've been doing has been working for you, by all means see how far it can take you.

Lich bane isn't that bad of an item second. It gives CDR AP and MS. The passive helps take towers too.

There's some scary advice in this thread.

I've kind of move away from Evelynn , but still need to rank 7 her on one account so pulled her out yesterday. Tbh, I don't think the "pros" are building the best builds atm, because they are ignoring CDR. But, they generally still have one thing in common: they pursue large AP balances, and item 3165 The Morello is a legitimate concern since the game has shifted heavily to a heal meta, and that's one of the best ways to prevent an R from being an execute.

Their builds suggest also, that these Evelynn players are not team fighters. They are strategic gankers who look for those 1 person kills which are guaranteed, rather than risking strong levels of exposure.

Most of them do not need item 3152 because they have both item 3117 + Relentless hunter, which is more than enough move speed to secure charms.

Personally..... I think Evelynn is a champ where pro builds aren't really about itemization as much as positioning and well warding. You can build Evelynn 20 different ways and carry.

What I'm currently doing to retain my "Discipline" when playing her is ..... I still build item 3311 . From about level 5 on, I pretty much only Buff farm jungle, and spend the entire game running gank circles. This makes me get lane active in the parts of the game where Evelynn often isn't, which helps snowball my lanes better. She can charge a item 3311 fast, which means not only does her Q gain 45 damage, she gains gold well enough to make it work. This ensures I don't fall into that trap where Evelynn spends a ton of time farming and doesn't do her job enough.

Still pulls about 8/2/11 scores when I do this.

Last Night I went item 1039 item 1004 > item 3311 > item 3100 > item 3009 > item 1402 > item 3905 > item 3115 and was going to replace the item 3311 with a item 3907 .

Pretty much the entire game post about level 7, I was basically 2 skilling people. By the end of the game I was 2 skilling a Thresh .

The only reason I didn't go 20/0 was because I was toying with the item 3311 . I spent some time late game going around and farming because I had set up such a lopsided game I figured I should get a Mastery token on the game.

And I was using these runes..... which seem stronger:

Phase Rush Ultimate Hat Transcendence Gathering Storm

Precision: Presence of Mind Coup Des Grace

Sticking power, enhanced damage, and a HIGHLY accessible ult that could always get out, especially since my itemization had so much move speed.

I'm Diamond IV btw.
