People make too many excuses for Riot, it's to time to look at LoL for what it is.

League of Legends is a fun game. Riot took an already popular game, improved the formula, added a few ways to make some cash money, and then has then become their not so slow descent into mediocrity since then.

Riot discovered a winning formula five years ago, and their disorganized and dysfunctional company has been getting "carried" by that formula since into great success. Every year, Riot has been getting more and more irresponsible, and the community has been supporting them just as strongly regardless.

Servers down again? "It's not their fault they're getting DDossed!"

Servers down AGAIN? "Just be patient god this community is so full of whiners who have no idea how servers work"

Same HORRIBLE client for 5 years that only seems to get shittier and buggier every year? "They have more pressing things to work on"

Same bugs and crashes that have been in game since launch and only seem to get more plentiful every year? "They working on it!!!"

Riot completely breaks the game during preseason making it almost unplayable and making it completely unfun? It's preseason! Let them experiment"

The last one I mentioned really bugs me. Everything else could be drawn up to incompetence, but experimenting on the player base with LIVE SERVERS is just insulting. Preseason doesn't HAVE to be broken. Riot just made a series of extremely unintelligent decisions and released them all in one patch.

Anyone with enough understanding of the game to get silver would be able to tell you just from reading patch notes that devourer would be retarded broken, poachers knife would be useless, everyone but sustain junglers would be worthless, and that Kalista is a shitty concept that will never be balanced with fundamentally broken mechanics. Everyone knew the new jungle would suck. Everyone knew Kalista would suck, yet Riot still released these horrible changes onto live servers because "preseason yo".

And people will defend them to the grave that it's ok because its "preseason". What other company just breaks their game 1 season a year and gets away with it? None that I know of.

What company makes a game that only actually works 2/3 of the time and BANS YOU when their service repeatedly fails? EA, and their notorious to be the worst thing to happen to gaming since the Atari 5200. Yet Riot receives praise.

This thread is poorly written, but I just wanted to point out how Riot receives praise and success while making extremely unintelligent decisions and being completely incompetent as a whole. Most companies don't get to be as stupid as Riot and survive, except for EA and everyone knows how much we love them.

And what do you want, exactly? More Riot hate threads? We already have a ton of those.

They have actually been making real progress on servers and getting DDoS attacks are pretty much unavoidable for something like League.

The launcher recently got a major update. I talked to some of the guys that work on the client and it sounded like they had some cool stuff planned; the launcher sounded like it was only the start.

I actually don't see too many bugs with the main game. Sure, my computer was a victim of insta-crashing when the preseason first went live, but they fixed that in pretty short order. Yeah, Azir's buggy, but he has been getting better and is definitely way better than he was back on PBE (oh my gosh, that was terrible O.o). Bugs exist, but they go down over time.

I can understand your frustration with Riot only attempting to have a balanced game 2/3 of the time, but you have to consider that League isn't just another game. League is an eSport. Riot got the world championship on an ESPN channel. Riot won its campaign to allow professional gamers to get work visas. League isn't just a game, it's effectively a sport and that means that it is seasonal. Riot could treat it like any other game and it would be fun, but they have bigger aspirations than that. They want League to be an eSport that is watched by millions. In normal sports, fans linger because of stars with relatively long careers. League hasn't been around long enough for too many careers to have been founded by it, though we're starting to see that happen. Normal sports are also kept fresh by new blood, though because the league professional scene is not yet as stable as other sports, currently League has too much new blood from one season to the next. I suspect that in the coming years we'll see more stability. Again though, Riot has much bigger ambitions for League than to be a mere online game.

Am I trying to justify their changes in the preseason? No. I personally think they could have done other things to make jungling far more open rather than just allowing sustain junglers to rule all. I do think they could have used some sanity checking on some of their changes, but the fact of the matter is, they have to keep the game growing and adapting. Sometimes that means throwing random crap at the wall and seeing what sticks. They already have nerfs for WW lined up on PBE. Do I think they should change something to let non-sustain junglers do a better job? Absolutely and I've given my suggestions regarding how to do so on the forums.

They tend to make more use of constructive criticism than the flagrantly negative criticism you're providing.

How much do you want to bet this guy got turned down for a job at Riot or was approached by Brandon Beck and Marc Merill early on and turned it down and is now super salty about it.

Anyone with enough understanding of the game to get silver would be able to tell you just from reading patch notes that [...] everyone but sustain junglers would be worthless,

Nope

Everyone knew the new jungle would suck.

Nope.

Honestly, I fully respect your right to your opinion. I get that a lot of your issues have been coming up. And I get that there are people that are unhappy with this.

However, as a jungle main, I can personally attest that not everyone knew either of those things. In fact, as someone who mains a few non sustain junglers and loves the new jungle, I can guarantee you that you are incorrect.

devourer would be retarded broken,

I've seen no bugs for it, I'm guessing you meant overpowered, which nope, it has too many stacks on buy imo but hardly op.

everyone but sustain junglers would be worthless,

Again no, gotten Naut and Eve through in the jungle.

and that Kalista is a shitty concept that will never be balanced with fundamentally broken mechanics.

She's meh. I've seen both good and bad.
