Breaking the meta

I do think it's an issue that a lot of players think of the meta like the (insert religious text here) of League. I was wondering, isn't there ways to break what exists now?

Maybe not something as ground-breaking as the lane-setups (1 top, 1 mid, 2 bot, 1 jungle), but at least what champions are good at what lanes. I've seen videos of guys who were able to do well picking unconventional picks (kennen support, cait top, etc), so I'm wondering what could be done to make these different picks more desirable (for the lolz, or for the win).

The issue has never been with people breaking the meta. The issue has ALWAYS been people who try to 'break the meta' and have no idea of what they are trying to do.

You know why it's called the meta? Because it works best in any given situation. If a way was found to break the current meta then that would become the new meta and then people would eventually want to break that and the cycle just goes on and on and on.

Ok let's make thia clear, there is a reason mid gets a mage or assasin, there is a reason adc is always a marksman, there is a reason for the current meta.

You mentioned something about a Caitlin taking too, well ye it may work if the top laner sucks. I faced a Caitlin top once. I was vlad. Her range was so annoying. She was winning the the lane till i got lvl 6 and i DESTROYED her. I made her useless, she could stay in lane for two seconds with me.

Another time i was playing MF against a shen top, i farmed pretty good, felt confident until he build a couple items and my whole advange dissapeared.

What i am saying is that an adc needs a support, they can't stay in lane effectively and safely with no support.

You see two ppl in bot lane. You know why? It's because dragon is in bot lane, therefore having more players in bot lane is easier to prevent enemies from getting it.

Mid lane has assasins and mages mostly, why?? It's because they can roam if they have to and get kills. Also some of them are very blue buff depended so they have to be in mid so they can't get the blue buff with the help of their jungler quickly.

Meta is hard to break because no matter what you come up with a well coordinated team of the current meta will win.

Just accept some facks. It's not a bad thing to try out new things and experiment but untill something really works, keep it out of ranked and have fun doing normal games.

If Solwolf does it, it's praised. If a random soloq'er does it, they're reported.

Riot does not make the meta, they make the game. "Meta" comes from the word "Metagame" which means "Thinking about the game as if you are playing a game."

How we, as the players, take the elements provided and use them to attempt to win is how the "Meta" is made. At below LCS level of play, a set "Meta" shouldn't and isn't mandatory and at LCS level of play, they understand that there is no set "Meta" because that is not what that word means. Your metagame must change depending on what challenges you are facing in your current game.

I have a Critical On-Hit build I'm working on with Eve. The core components are item 3718 and item 3031. So far it is testing out pretty well.

Just about every league player has the mentality of "If it didn't work the first time, it never will". If DoubleLift started playing TF ADC and won with it in a professional game, everyone would do it. If Meteos played jungle Lissandra in the LCS, everyone would pick it up. Bjeregsen played Lee Sin mid, everyones going to do it too.

Most people will laugh at you for playing out of the current meta, when theyre just copying the meta they have no understanding of themselves. They make a team completely out of the strongest meta picks and go up against people derping around with something out of the preffered meta and get hammered because the troll people actually know how to play and make these unconventional strategies work. If you know how to make something work, then it shouldn't matter if its meta or not, because meta picks don't always work out either.
