Liandry's on Mordekaiser

Considering you rush anyway, I believe getting next after boots would be a great choice for a few reasons.

Reason 1: Magic Pen, though you can get for that, Liandry's still offers decent magic pen for early on using . Plus Void staff and Liandry's both have the same amount of AP.

Reason 2: The DoT from Liandry's itself is insanely powerful, especially if you use his ult or combo abilities on top of each other. If you combo this with Rylai's the damage over time is doubled, and if you get an ADC's ghost, the opponent will practically be dead on sight.

Reaosn 3: Health, being such an essential stat on Mordekaiser, especially if that item offers a passive such as that with the bonus of 300 health.

Now that we have this out the way, here's the final build idea to work around the lack of a Void Staff. Worst Morde NA, Malicious Metal, I kinda need your opinion on this seeing as you're both die-hard Mordekaiser mains.

I really like item 3151 on Mordekaiser, especially if they have 2 or more tanks. Otherwise, going resists and damage feels a lot better. More damage = More Shield build up from your passive = More value out of building pure resistances with the health bonus from your ult and effective health from passive.

Indeed, once played an ARAM as Morde and I 1v3d behind the enemy tower with such little health but my shield kept regenerating. Finally died to the 3rd person who was a Nunu.
