Tryndamere

Hello Everyone! I've recently played Tryndamere on my friend's account and loved him so much that I bought him. However, my first intermediate bot match with him went quite badly. I ended completely feeding the enemy Malphite and ended up with a 1/13 score. Since i'm still quite new to League (About a week and a half in) I've decided to take to the forum to ask for guidance on builds, runes, combos, and masteries.

I'm also wondering if this is a good guide to follow: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/how-to-carry-dem-gaimz-s6-tryndamere-challenger-guide-358816

I would recommend using Probuilds.net to look up runes, masteries, and item builds for champions.

I don't really play him but if I had to recommend an item build, it would probably be something along the following lines:

Runes: Lifesteal Quints, Attack Speed Marks, Armor Seals, MR Glyphs

Masteries [Take Assassin instead of Secret Stash]

item 1055 item 2003 -> item 1053 -> item 3046 -> item 3031 -> item 3139

Purchase Berserker Greaves (or Boots of Swiftness if you want slow resistance) whenever you want.

Alright, I'll assume for the sake of argument that you're not trolling, so I'll help you out. Assume I'm talking about players.

Malphite is a bitch of a lane for Tryndamere. Literally one of the worst lane matchups in the game. It's like Garen vs Teemo. There ARE certain windows of opportunity (called power spikes) that present themselves once you get a certain item or level.

For example, Teemo has no sustain, so if Garen can gap close successfully on the Teemo, he can do a LOT of damage and will be able to all in him at a later point, usually 6.

In this case, Tryndamere is extremely strong lvls 1-2. Usually what you do as Tryndamere is your start E (your dash) and last hit and farm aggressively (keep attacking the minions and getting the gold) to build up your fury. Hit level 2 first, then spin onto the enemy and auto attack their face. After your auto deals damage, issue a move order to the direction they are running, this is called animation cancelling and is super important. If they hit level 2 or aren't really low after 2-3 hits, back off. Malphite vs Tryndamere lanes require Trynd to get an early advantage as soon as possible to prevent Malphite from getting early armor that makes Trynd useless. Another Tryndamere power spike is level 3 against other matchups (in which case you get W lvl 3) or sometimes level 4 (in which case you got rank 2 Q at your level 3 and now have a point in W at level 4) but those are very matchup specific.

For Tryndamere vs Malphite, you need lifesteal to counter his inevitable thornmail. At least, that's what a player would build against a Tryndamere as Malphite, not sure what bots build.

The best thing you can probably do is buy a item 3153 first (cutlass part first, obviously) item 3111 next, and item 3087 after that. Now when you actually play pvp at higher summoner levels (and thus have access to more runes) you can instead rush item 3074 and proxy the wave. That means run past his turret (not at dumb times, do it when it's pushed so you don't take turret aggro) and farm the wave. Force the Malphite to choose between challenging you and farming his cs. If he tries to fight you, you'll win because of the lifesteal given by the minion wave. This also forces their jungler top which is good for your team because if you play it right you'll probably be able to 1v2 depending on how well you farmed and who the enemy jungler is. Always focus the squishier target first, which is probably going to be the jungler.

Before you get your big item though, just play safe and farm. If you have ignite you CAN go aggro pre 6. First back your goals are item 1055 item 1053. This will give you more than enough sustain to survive his poke. Once Malphite goes oom you can pretty much all in him. Try to avoid his E (his slam) as that massively slows your attack speed. Once you get a little bit better at league (and face real players) start building a item 3140 later on and use it's active to remove the attack speed debuff. That will allow you to duel the Malphite whenever it's off cooldown.

For runes (until you can get the T3, only buy T1. Save your IP.) get attack damage reds, armor yellows, magic resist blues, and attack speed quints.

Again, only Tier 1 runes until you can get Tier 3. Runes are SUPER important. Find a couple champions you love and stick to them for a while. Once you have a couple basic rune pages set up, go ham and buy champions.

go to replay.gg and watch my last few Tryndamere games. I've been a dedicated main for 5 years and made it to Gold in season 4. You can look up my masteries and build path as well. But take note of how to play the lane.

I recommend 35% attack speed in runes (Quints, reds, blues. take armor yellow). Tryndamere scales with attack speed. More auto attacks = faster fury gained = MORE crits = MORE damage. You can use these runes top lane and jungle.

Good luck.
