Trundle vs Mundo

I was playing an ARAM game earlier today, when I ran into a trundle. Normally, I wouldn't think much of this. Just another tanky, melee champ with some healing. I was about to get a grim reminder or why he isn't just another tanky melee champion. Before you assume I just didn't try to counterplay it with grievous wounds, I did, building thornmail after hydra/cleaver, and he still just doesn't die. Now, after the game, the trundle player agreed with me that this champion is a ridiculous ball of stats, and, after discussion, we decided to compare him to another champion that has a conflicting identity with trundle--Dr. Mundo. Let's start with the passive. trundle's passive heals for a percentage of anythings max health when it dies around him, which includes jungle mobs, players, and even Baron and Elder dragon. Yes, that is kinda ridiculous to heal for 6% of Baron Nashor's 10k+ health, especially in the possible fight following Baron. Mundo, on the other hand, regenerates .3% of his max health per second. Yes, that period before the 3 isn't a typo, it's really a negligible amount of health regen. 3 health per second for every 1k health he has. Arguably, this is more consistent, although visibly weaker. Another problem with this comparision is that the trundle player is encouraged to be active and kill large things like dragons and baron, champions in teamfights, etc. While on the other hand, mundo isn't encouraged to do anything but sit back while his health regens. Moving on to Q. Trundle q is one third of what makes trundle a huge ball of stats. It is an autoattack reset that deals bonus damage, reduces his target's AD, and buffs his own, giving him a major advantage in dueling, and just giving him free stats for attacking, as well as a very short slow. Mundo's q is what every top laner hates in lane. He throws out a cleaver, at the cost of his own health, dealing %health damage, with no scaling, and slowing them for 2 seconds. This was possible designed as a way for Mundo to get close and use his autoattacks and E, mentioned later. Trundle q is a ball of stats that makes him ever duelist's nightmare, and mundo's is strong poke. You'd think that a tank wouldn't really care much about poke. Now on to w, the strange abilities. Trundle's w gives him movespeed, attack speed, and a Spirit Visage effect. The second ability to contribute to being a ball of stats as well as contributing to his ult usually healing for more health than mundo, discussed later. Mundo's w gives him tenacity, although less than Garen W, and is an AoE about as strong as a sunfire cape, at the cost of his own health. Although this feels well designed, it's just too weak to work. Now onto the E, the even stranger abilities. Trundle's E summons a pillar of ice with a slow area around it. Although rito nerfed it by removing the vision from the pillar, this is still a big ability in conjunction with trundles w, the movespeed buff, in particular, which allows him to get close to someone, and block them off and just stat-check them to death. Mundo's E is an AD buff based off of missing health, and an auto reset. I think it's terrible that since mundo has no AD scaling on abilities, that he gets an AD buff. Now, on to the problematic ultimates. Trundle's R steals a portion of his target's health and resistances. We'll be focusing on the health, as to compare it to mundo, but keep in mind the resistances are STOLEN, which will come into play in a moment. Trundle's numbers are, on the first hit, 10/13.75/17.5%(1%AP) as well as the same value over 4 seconds. Trundle heals for the premitigation damage. Now, remember when I said to keep the stolen resistences in mind? Well, that means that no matter how much armor/MR you have, trundle is still going to be able to get past that and heal for a very large amount. Mundo's R heals 3.3/4.5/5% of his own max health over 12 seconds. Totaling 60% of his max health at max rank. You also get negligible movespeed. The main issue here is that if you use that in a teamfight, the fight is generall over before mundo can regen his full 60%, but Trundle can go ahead in 4 seconds and heal 35% of their tanks health, with half of it instant, and has his passive working more more powerfully in teamfights with champions and objectives dying all around him while mundo's 5% from ult is negligible, or his passive .3 per second being too low for anyone to even notice. Over all, trundle is objectively stronger in every way that matters. Mundo probably needs a rework.

If this is drastic, I'd say that Mundo needs a complete rework, as his identity lies between Vladimir, trundle, and olaf, and he needs to not just be an abomination.

P.S. don't mind my capitalization issues.

Sorry if I sound salty here, I just genuinely think that Trundle outshines Dr. Mundo in every conceivable way.DrMundo DrMundo Trundle Trundle

He does. Isn't he Tier 1 on Riot's rework list already?

Yeah it's pretty busted that if Trundle gets his ult on a tank-which shouldn't be hard, they're the frontline- That he'll heal upwards of 1,300 health in 4 seconds lategame, and that's just based off of 3,500 hp.

If a mundo has, say 4,500 health, he'll gain back 2,700 health over 12 seconds from his rank 3 ultimate. If trundle ults mundo, he'll steal 1,687.5 health in one third that time Not to mention Mundo has to sacrifice 20% of his health just to activate his ult

And while all this is happening Trundle steals 40% of his resistances as well, making him far tankier, while Mundo gets melted because all of his strength is sapped away

Trundle directly counters Mundo, as he was designed to be an anti-tank/bruiser champion. However, to make up for this his damage is generally low against squishy targets (particularly mages). Their roles are completely different in teamfights. Trundle can't outshine Mundo when their roles are entirely different.
