How to jungle clear early game?

I have been playing jungle for a bit and am pretty good at ganks mid and late game. The only issue is getting there. When I start the game, I almost always die trying to clear. This sets me behind and makes it difficult for my team to catch up. I normally play nidalee but have just purchased Zac and have yet to try him out. Is nidalee just difficult, am I just bad, or does it just require practice? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong, because I love the role but can't play it! Thanks in advance.

Nidalee has always had a very low health first clear. This new jungle hits harder and in such a way her AoE speed clear isn't as effective depending on which quadrant you're on.

Squishy Junglers such as Nidalee always had an issue with first clear. It is not uncommon to see inexperienced players get executed.

And the removal of Strength of the Ages really hurts her, too.

Yeah, you're gonna play one of the most mechanically intensive champions in the game right away with little to no experience, what could possibly go wrong? Now, how do i explain in short how to manage her resource pool, the jungle paths, the hitbox of her pounce, how to behave in a teamfight or just a small fight, where to gank and when, how to set up a pick and a lot of more stuff...

Do you have a few weeks of time to spare?

Jokes aside, if you have been playing for at least a couple of years i suggest you to look up on youtube some korean replays or pro players replays in general, there is a guy called "The Shy" that is currently the best nidalee player in the world, but almost every experienced korean pro is quite skilled with her, you might want to try other champions in the meantime, and expand your champion pool and experience. Iwilldominate is fairly skilled too with nidalee, as well as Rush, but right now they prefer to not play her since with the jungle rework she's been cut off and she's quite underpowered right now.

Nidalee is a tough champ to jungle with. I mean, TOUGH. I dare not jungle with Nidalee, she's that TOUGH. Zac is definitely a good champ to jungle with though. He has a good, safe first clear, and evolves into a major gank threat with his Slingshot.

Get armor runes, ask for help for the first buff; you can also start with the refillable potion, do half your jungle, then go heal and clear the rest of it without getting executed. Then gank.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I bought Zac and tried him out but I just kept dying. I think I need practice kiting and need to know the champion better. Thanks for the advice, but also: best runes?
