Can we have the smite buffs back? @Riot

Im not exactly sure why but why were the old smite buffs that you would get for smiting certain camps removes? Imo it made the jungle a bit more fun and back then the jungle camps were much harder to kill so you had to choose and decide which camp to smite to have an easier time in clearing the camps. Maybe not reintroduce the same but like a bit differnt ones and making camps a bit more harder to kill to avoid the "jungle clear problems". its been so long and i still dont know shit how the plants work ( timing wise) and the honey fruit spawn conditions/frequency

They were removed because of Red/Blue smite. Riot did not like the idea that players were forced to hold onto smite and it either: A.) Didn't pay off, losing jungle clear speed/time B.) That you used smite on Gromp, then a fight breaks out mid or you're forced into a fight in your jungle and don't have smite available to fight C.) So you were either forced onto holding it to not be fucked for a teamfight, but constantly lost clear speed because you weren't using it and the enemy jungler was / and or was invading

Which is a totally fair point, a lot of times I was super scared to smite anything because if I didn't have smite for dragon or a fight, or if I got invaded, I'd be fucked so I usually walked around my own jugnle with max smites up for a fight, sometimes using ONE so that I still had 1 remaining. IMO though, I felt like it gave Junglers some pretty flexible options which was pretty cool, blah blah blah...

But I think it was ALSO removed because of things like the Cass / Gromp smite cheese level 1.

I guess it makes sense but was it really bad? was strategizing how you cleared the camps and how you used smite really that bad? i think it made jungling more fun and made it have variety in how you did jungling . Instead of right now just rushing the red/blue buffs and ganking. I was a pretty new player back then and i just played a bit before these changes were removed but for me it was a fun aspect of jungling where you would have to plan your pathing and choose your ganks accordingly.

This sounds like an utopia for good players to show off their skill

Also sounds like an utopia for laners because the jungler is either A) Smiting a buff to clear faster but having a weaker ganking potential B) Have longer clear speed but having a stronger gank potential

thats why you ALWAYS only smited when you had 2 up and not just randomly smite. Thats what made jungle harder and made it a role that used to take skill because u had to think a new jungle path for every situation and based on the enemy picks etc. not like now where u just full clear and get out with full hp without using pots lol

They removed cause only good junglers used buffs correctly and bad junglers didn't know wtf to do with them.

And in the end, you pretty much only smited gromp/krugs/buffs early and then for the rest of the game you only smited raptors and wolves for the vision.

My pathing used to be Full clear + whichever scuttles I could do. My starting smite depended on whether I wanted red or blue. I generally started red because I liked to save my blue for dragon. After backing I go krugs > smite raptor > solo dragon. Worked literally every game and it was amazing.

Krugs also applied true damage to towers and it was amazing chunking towers for 300 dmg. Gromp was pretty much a extra thornmail and not just for jungle creeps.

After plants came out jungle was a snooze fest of who's the best this patch and you were no longer punished for being a bad jungler unless you died 50 times over.

yup exactly what i mean they removed the skill from jungling , punished the good players and rewarded the bad.

well everyone wants to get better. By removing that they just punished the goodplayers and rewarded the badplayers for actualy being bad

They removed it because they wanted and still want to dumb down the game.

Always found weird why they removed them in the first place. They were like league evolving when they added them and when u expect it to be even more advanced it just went back to basics it was like the opposite of evolution (dk if that makes sense, hope u get what im trying to say)

I liked the old smite buffs because they made the game more unique and made it harder for junglers to farm camps. Now I find junglers ganking my lane lvl 3 with full health and its bull shit.

Cynikul1 votes

I don't disagree there certainly were some advantages to it, and definitely added some interesting mechanics to Jungle. Hard to say if one outweighs the other.

Riot should bring back jungle buffs, but different ones and rework it so newer players could understand what each buff does.

I was never a fan of plants, I don't really make use of them that often that they impact the game so they feel just meaningless for me.

You're really missing out! The scryer's blooms are a great way to check for wards and missing champions in important places, the honeyfruit is awesome, and the blast plants (forgot the name) can get you both into and out of trouble. Popping the plant while someone is chasing you (right after you passed, so you and your pursuer are separated further, or doing it over a wall into the dragon pit) can be lifesaving.

I don't compeletely ignore them, I do use them when ever they are up but they respawn to slow in my opinion.

what are you talking about...this post is about smite buffs i didnt say anything about plants being bad

I'd be okay with them either adding more plants or keeping the plants and giving us the smite buffs again.

I miss those buffs so bad
