Give more items a chance to inflict grievous wounds instead of Morellonomicron.

Hi, I just wanted to bring up a topic that would be pretty awesome if implemented.

So, when looking at items that help auto-attack based champions sustain for a ridiculously long time during a fight (I'm not even talking about ADC's unfortunately), there are 5 major lifesteal items, 2 of which are extremely strong on champions who can just increase their attack speed, and smack you around like Fiora for instance. There are not enough items that can afflict grievous wounds, and it seems like the role of tanking is getting insanely harder every patch you guys release, because there are 3 MAJOR armor pen items that just make armor useless against certain champs like Kalista Vayne Fiora Riven Zed Yasuo KogMaw Irelia and possibly Talon. I understand that their roles are to absolutely melt the squishies, but when your tank is FULL TANK, and they die faster than an Anivia with no item 3027, said items become an issue. So I would like to give a few suggestions about items that can apply grievous wounds to champions without being overpowered.

I remember reading a post about someone asking to give thornmail a grievous wounds debuff, but in order for thornmail to actually work, one must stack armor upon armor, but even that doesn't stand a chance against the amount of armor pen items in the game. You should make it to where if the person is attacking you is doing any sort of spellvamp/lifesteal, that champion should get debuffed. I also remember there being an AD item to where if you attack an enemy champion, it would afflict grievous wounds. Instead of damage per attack, maybe add a multi-defensive item called The Bladed Crown- builds from item 3105 + item 1031 The completed piece would offer an aura that would increase surrounding allies' magic resist by 20, 75% base health regen and an active that gives your team the ability to debuff someone with grievous wounds when an ally is attacked for 8 seconds. The personal stats of the item would be 50 Armor and 25 Magic Resist. The total price of the items would be 1900+750 plus a combination fee of 500 gold.

I know someone out there wants to say, why not play Mr. Rock Solid? Malphite The reason being, tanks need a LOT of love right now, especially with the amount of champions who get true damage/percent health damage from attacks. Please Riot, give us more grievous wound items, or lifesteal items get out of hand.

I have an alternative proposal: remove grievous wounds from the game. Rework the few champions that are built around drain tanking to have less innate sustain in exchange for it being removed.

Needing an item to combat specific champion mechanics is dangerous territory. It warps builds and not all champions can afford to deviate from their core items. Vayne, for example, hates the idea of building an Executioner's Calling-like item; she doesn't have the slots for it.

Well, Vayne doesn't really have a problem with most of the health-stacking culprits who have innate sustain DrMundo Vladimir Swain because of her % max health as true dmg passive.

And every other ADC also has no problem against health-stackers because everyone just builds item 3153 already anyway!

BoRK is a poor buy on most ADCs. It's also an ineffective counter to drain tanks because every drain tank buys Visage to get the self heal amp, and that thing also has a big chunk of mres to mitigate the BoRK procs.

Vayne is of course just an example. There are many others. Good luck fitting a GW item onto Singed, Mundo, Varus, Cassiopeia ... really, I'm getting bored, there's a lot of champions that really want to have a specific core of items.

Well, not every champ on ever team needs the GW, just the damage-dealers... and as-is, your AP carry will almost certainly have GW because Athene's still sucks on almost everyone. Cass and Anivia are two I can think of who don't go Morello's, but most others do now.

Also, adapting your build to counterplay certain champions or teamcomps is just part of playing. I don't think it's a problem to have to vary your cookie-cutter build sometimes.

It's true, although I would phrase it as "Morellonomicon is stupidly broken OP and needs nerfs" rather than saying mean things about Athene's.

Adapting your build in the sense that "their AD carry just got a double kill, I should prioritize an armor item" is totally cool. Adapting your build in the sense that "they have a Vlad on their team, I need to have a GW item" is not okay. Champions that warp your build simply by existing are bad design.

It would be much better to redesign Vlad without having GW exist; that would result in him feeling less binary and thus allow us to put him back into competitive viability without completely wrecking joe solo queue player.

BotRK's Passive, and Active, both deal %HP Physical Damage

I keep forgetting they changed that lol. This is at least the second time I remember making this mistake.

Physical damage is better against Vlad, worse against Mundo, and kinda questionable against other drain tanks. In general, BoRK not great against tanks with typical items.

Remember Executioner's Calling? Yeah it was kinda cool, it's not good by any stretch of the imagination but at least it has grievous wounds.

Now ADs don't get to do anything when they see a Mundo or Fiddle, ignite away folks!!

Yeah that's the item I meant to bring up in this discussion. It was removed because the stats on it were absolute garbage, and like no one built it.

They could have just reworked the item but kept the grievous wounds, but I guess that's a No.

FERViD RAGE1 votes

I Know right, they could have made it an item for a bruiser that gave stats like 20 armor and 40 Attack damage.

I doubt we will ever see and item that gives AD and armor.
