Playing as Blitzcrank support

A Loyal Support·10/28/2015, 3:27:01 AM·10 votes·1,659 views

So, i just bought blitz today. currently i'm 4 games in. literally every single game, I've encountered some of the most toxic people ever. I haven't even experienced this with Bard. People expect you to land every hook flawlessly, and when you don't you get salted more than a slug that that was the first victim of a child that recently learned what happens to a slug when you put salt on it.

so for all you new blitz players out there: perform like you've been playing him for years, regardless if you just got the champ or not. If you fail to do this, prepare to have the worst games ever.

Blitz players, like Riven players, don't get the best treatment. Mainly because of the majority of playerbase that are entitled asshats. (not saying all of them are, but you get the point)

Blitz has hit or miss playstyle: it's either you grab something and do something, or you don't. It's just how "useless" he is when he can't land grabs, unfortunately.

Meanwhile I hardly ever get blamed because Lulu support has so much breathing room when you mess up something. Which means, it's just the nature of Blitz in general.

I don't even know what the hell does my ADC wants when I pull as Blitz:

Missed or grabbed minion:

ADC: Fkin Blitz, l2play this fking game & pull some useful shit, you fking noob!

Pulled the tank support(Leona or Braum)

ADC: Stupid idiot! Pull the fking squishy, not the fking tank, jeez....

Pulled the enemy ADC:

ADC: You stupid ass! Im trying to CS, wtf u want to fking engage for?? U fking idiot...

I think that's because it's very easy to see if blitz succeeds or fails, as supposed to Bard who's A LOT less binary. People either see you as the god hand or a moron who can't land anything, unfortunately.

It's just that Blitz's entire identity revolves around his hooks, so when you miss some it's just that much more obvious. Apart from hoping you get more understanding teammates, it's generally easier to just run up to people, punch them, then hook them back in when they try to run. Granted, this will make you take a lot more damage, so don't go balls deep unless your team can output damage quick enough.

Ya, people will sometimes berate you for missing skillshots, completely blind to the fact that sometimes it's not you that's bad but the enemy that is good. Just mute them for one. Also, you can use your threat of hooking to deter the enemy rather than trying to actually hit them. If they are really good at dodging and aren't afraid, you can simply walk up to them and hit them with E; they can't dodge that.

Blitz's main issue as a support is that, while his Q-E-R combo basically ensures death against any non-tank, provided he has an ally nearby, he doesn't really do much otherwise when played as a support. He does one thing as a support and he does it amazingly well, but it's ALL he does as a support, so when you miss the Q, that means for 10-15 seconds or so, you just can't do anything except maybe E somebody if they all in you. Really, Blitzcrank is probably overall more useful in a solo lane if he builds as, say, a bruiser. He can still land pulls to make teamfights amazingly one-sided but he can also contribute actual damage in a fight and meanwhile his team will have a support that's actually... Supportive.

with all the new movement speed items blitz crank is infinitely harder to land hook than one year ago which is why i laugh when people say immobile champions(Asheitem 3087 item 3046 Garen item 3742 item 3071..............item 3113 )

Just play nautilus. I named my account after blitz but naut is just better.

don't forget you can just hold on to your Q, and save it for a high pressure situation (for the enemy) where you're more likely to land it. You can also just walk up and E and basically this guarantees a landed Q if your enemy mispositions.

blitz is special in this regard. I think him more than any champ in the game, and certainly more than any support has insane zoning potential by just existing. Walk around and posture aggressively, and you can zone the enemy adc from farm. OF course, don't be dumb about it and take free harass.

but i feel ya, i think thats the nature of blitz. His motives are usually pretty telegraphed unless you're good at mind game via positioning. Like, if blitz pops W and runs at you, it's obvious he wants to Q. So naturally his opponent gets real flightly and prepares to dodge. I guess unpredictability could be a boon for a blitz player

you really shouldn't throw hooks unless you know you can get it, half the threat of blitz is just zoning people while holding it

HOW CAN U MISS UR HOOK

omg noob report

Champions like Blitz practically breed negativity. Whether it be your teammates flaming you for missing a single hook, or the enemy team raging because of the sheer maddening experience of playing against a Blitz, or Blitz players themselves being either trolls or acting like they're a god for landing one hook.

You can't escape the negativity when there's a Blitzcrank in your game.

High510/28/2015, 8:07:07 AM1 votes

Blitz's only benefit is hook. If you can't hit hook, Blitz is utterly useless.

The rest of the kit a scales poorly and provides little benefit after 10 mins. The champ is a one trick pony that's incredibly easy to counter, even by Bronze level players.

At the pro level, CLG got killed for picking Blitz one game in groups.
