Grasp Feels Too Exclusive to Top Lane

Junglers aren't going to be capable of autoing champions much at all. They utilize the permanent HP gain passive very poorly. I think they should change it in a way that makes it acceptable on junglers too without wasting a lot of its potential.

At first, I thought they could fix that by doubling or tripling the permanent HP gain on junglers when they attack champions. The problem is that we'd probably just have people take Smite Top lane if that happened. Would it be OP? I'm not sure. At 2x it's probably still not worth to take Smite Top.

as a top main, i hate the stack mechanic aswell, since it makes the effectiveness of grasp extremely dependendent on your matchup.

worst part is, that the matchups where you cant stack the extra health, due to your enemy being a ranged poke bot or just an overwhelming counter, are where youd need it the most.

its also incredibly difficult to prepare the proc in the first place, since you have to auto attack or take damage literally for 4 seconds nonstop. if you dont auto attack a minion for only one second, the buff falls off before its ready. at the same time you feel forced to get as many procs off as possible to get a decent value out of the keystone. this makes grasp a bitch to work with and highly anoying even in cases where your opponent wants to trade with you and you can stack it. its almost as if it incentivises you to play stupid and constantly push lane just to be considered in combat long enough that you have it ready for your next trade.

make it a flat 4% max health increase, or change the bonus health to level scaling (20 hp + 10 hp per level = 200 bonus hp at lvl 18).

I wouldn't be opposed to it working off of large/epic monsters. I'm sure there's some detail I'm missing that makes the idea terrible, but it doesn't sound awful to me.

Maybe tone down the health scaling when used on monsters?

Remove the HP stacking and improve the OnHit effect.

Or maybe just have the health stacking part working kinda like the old "Strength of the Ages" - ofcourse with some tweaking.

Make Grasp in jungle like Strength of the Ages or bring it back. Tank junglers dont have any good options with current masteries tbh. Strength of the Ages was really good. I miss this thing.

They should make it so Grasp give HP if you kill large monster. It would make it viable for tanky jungler.

I think grasp doesn't even activate 90% of the time. I play leona and Sion jungle and I literally watch grasp give them a whopping 25-50 HP in a game where I had a 60% kill participation. And those are auto attack champs.

Last game I literally was vs a Rammus. I auto attack his taunt by default, killed him both at level 1 and level 3, and I had 0 Grasp charges by 9 minutes into game. The second kill was on Sion's Passive, which is a PURE basic attack. 0 Stacks.

I think the hp-stacking is out of place on it anyway, the conditions are just to unreliable. If two beefy dudes brawl it out in toplane, they can get serious amounts of health from it, but if you have a matchup like darius vs kennen, you're lucky to hit 50hp at the end of laneing....

Nunu and Mundo agree with this. :)

Honestly? Just make it stack on large and epic monsters. I don't honestly think the health stacking is even that good to begin with in my mind. Rather just have the improved damage and heal from it like it has currently.

Yeah.

  • I was thinking an ADC might run it, but they have press the attack even if it didn't have the ranged drawback. MFs or EZs might try it if their Q procs it.
  • Mages want damage.
  • Supports... I don't think tank supports would be able to proc it enough. Ranged supports probably have better options. I tried it on zyra one game as I build a lot of HP on her and it was completely underwhelming.
  • Junglers won't get enough use out of it.

This is a keystone I'd like to use more, but can't seem to justify on any of the champs I play.

but grasp has always been like that though, ever since it was introduced to the game. And no one has really complained about it.

I don't think Grasp's strength lies in the maximum Health gain. Even Top Lanes will only get +60 Health from the laning phase and then they'll be in the same boat as Junglers.

I think Harvest is supposed to be kind of like the jungler version of Grasp.

Grasp Feels Too Exclusive to Top Lane

Isn't that kind of the same with old Grasp at Season 7?
