Autofill protection = Support protection?

I'm a top/support main, so i select support as my secondary role. Whenever i get support, i automatically get autofill protection afterwards.

Why is this? I wasnt autofilled, i got one of my preferred roles.

I'm not trying to start some sort of BLM-style/Feminazi-like bullshit here, i'm just pointing out something i found a little odd.

Sidenote: this means i am ALLWAYS GUARANTEED TO GET TOP LANE IN EVERY GAME I AM PROTECTED. Exploit in the system?

Does this happen simply because autofill ends up coinciding with getting support, or is autofill programmed to only count when you support?

It is encouragement to queue as support as that is the role that makes Autofill a necessity since no one plays it.

As for why Autofill Protection seems to always give you your primary position (Top), I can't say for sure.

Perhaps the client heavily prioritizes the primary position when the secondary is Support. Might be exploitable, might just be more inclined to find games for your primary choice.

Support is the most common autofill role, and I think that adc might be the second. The second one usually fluctuates but support is always there. Works for us who are support players, especially when it comes to maybe make/break series. We can always due as different position we feel comfortable with.
