Can we please get clarification on just what this is? Was it an overlooked easter egg inserted by the artist?

The thought that the Jarvan IV we see in the game has actually been murdered in the "real world" of league of legends is extremely disturbing and unsettling to me. That Leblanc is posing as Jarvan IV implies what we see in the game is a soulless "ghost" of a person that no longer lives. It touches on the subject of necromancy with personality, something that shakes me deeply.

Sincerely, very lore-interested player that suffers zombie-related nightmares at least once a week, and just woke up crying due to a nightmare related to/inspired by this theory.

Can I edit that with: "The thought that the Jarvan IV we see in the game was once believed to be murdered"

It was a story hook Riot never decided to follow up on. There's likely a reason for that.

There's also the fact that it hasn't been even the slightest of a hint to this since the JoJ also tells me it's not canon as well.

I guess they might actually revisit this in some form. After all Swain mentions a "great charade" done by Leblanc with Jarvan IVs blood on the sion-promo-page,implying that Leblanc pulled off something similar in the new lore.

It is likely though that Leblanc either posed as J4 here and used his blood to make him think that he really did it,or that the blood was actually used to manipulate J4 into attacking Swain.

I never really liked this part of Kalamanda's story arc, the idea of Jarvan IV being killed and then being replaced would be nice in a movie or a book, but not in a game that relies so heavily on identifying yourself with a champion.

leblanc started the conflict by pretending to be j4, which caused a lot of ruckus it's pretty much well known lb was pretending to be j4 then, but I think he's still alive
