Hey Riot, can you just revert Poppy to where her rework put her?

Niyume··13 votes·971 views

She felt so much better to play, everyone thought she was weak (when she wasn't, she was fine), and she had more than one build that was viable. : /

Like, she has a really sad winrate now, and no one plays her anymore for various reasons. She was fine at her release before you kneejerk buffed her into pick or ban status.

(And to clarify, I mean bringing her back to where her rework put her in 5.24, not the old Poppy)

Her shield is meaningless becasue the low duration, dont let her trade the moment she takes shield and its no use. They nerfed that when she was strong but I think it was the wrong direction.

Niyume1 votes

Yeah, her shield really doesn't do much anymore. It might take one hit, and then it just expires. I've never used the full value of the shield after the nerf.

Ralanr2 votes

Do you mean reverting her rework entirely? Or bringing her back to her rework release?

Niyume6 votes

Oh I mean bringing her back to the state she was in immediately after her rework. Her kit felt more fluid and more enjoyable, and she wasn't overbearing like she was in LC$ after they overbuffed her in typical kneejerk fashion.

If they weren't happy with how her rework turned out, there are plenty of changes you can do to make her a little more casual-friendly (lot of people said she was weak, despite people having around a 50% on her with a few games, so they wanted to make her easier to pick up) without breaking her like they did.

Ralanr1 votes

People thought she was weak because they weren’t used to her yet.

Though I cannot remember what we’re the buffs that brought her over the top. Do you have the notes?

Niyume3 votes

Yeah, and I would argue that her rework's release was actually really balanced -- but people just don't give things any time or thought beyond the first game or two, and Riot has to cater to them.

I don't have the notes, no, but I could dig them up if needed. But they buffed the damage on her Q, the shield and CD on her passive, and the scaling on her ult. Then she was played in LC$ a lot, and then after Worlds they took away her AA reset, took half the range off her E, made the clunky E>Q interaction, nerfed her shield duration (while buffing the value EVER so slightly), made her passive ricochet more punishing, nerfed her Q damage, and just recently halved the damage on a snapcast ult.

Wanna know what the complaint was? She was too tanky while doing decent damage. So, instead of shifting some of the % health damage on her Q into scaling, and instead of toning back her W passive (free armor and MR)... they just destroy her kit.

Ralanr5 votes

I really do miss the E range and AA reset passive...

Niyume4 votes

So do I. I don't care if they nerf her damage, I just want a little bit of E range back (even if not the original range), that AA reset, and the full value on a snapcast ult.

If they did that, I'd be happy. Even if they nerf her to compensate. But I'm not expecting that to happen. : /

Ralanr1 votes

Personally I’d rather her ult did no damage so power could be shifted somewhere else.

Niyume1 votes

Eh, well I play Poppy like a bruiser, and build her half AD, so her ult is a good chunk of my kill potential. :P

Ralanr1 votes

Ah. I play her as a tank and I feel her ult takes too much kill pressure from her base kit.

Niyume2 votes

Well, I mean, tanks aren't meant to have high kill pressure (I think), right? They're just meant to hold the enemy carries down, and soak damage for your team.

Not to say they can't ever kill people... but I don't think it's their focus.

But when I give up all those tank stats to do more damage, it becomes a focus, and her ult fights against that with how it's designed now. But Riot doesn't like role diversity, so. >.>

Ralanr1 votes

Outside of laning their kill pressure does drop, but in lane they have to have some kill pressure otherwise they cannot fight their opponent.

Niyume1 votes

Yeah, and that's why her Q has that % health damage and her E is no pushover. :P

ninjaroxas1 votes

I'm just saying her damage on her ult was always halved on snapcast it was just never on the tooltip. Unless they changed that recently but idk why they would

Niyume2 votes

No, it wasn't always halved. They specifically cut it in half for snapcasts a while ago because they think Poppy does too much damage and they refuse to nerf the free 15% max health damage and shift some into scaling. That was a more recent change, too.

I just missed the old Poppy's voice :'(

Poppy became my main post rework! She just clicked with me so hard!; as a tanky champ with a fun kit and I was in LOVE the first time i saw that W and R! (I was really sick of Yas and Rengar every damn game at that time...)

Then they over buffed her, followed by nerfing her into the dirt! I found this particularly insulting as the official responce was "She isn't being played as we intended"; meanwhile TANK YAS was approaching a 57% win rate in two lanes...

The new runes have felt like a big hit to her as well. Grasp feels less effective on her, and the overwhelming offencive runes have made her laining phase weaker then ever!

Give me my Poppy back Rito! ;_;

Lethality poppy is still hilarious, just so you know

Niyume1 votes

That's just because Lethality is broken in general, and new runes amp damage way too much. It'll eventually be nerfed (hopefully).

Take that away, and Poppy isn't doing well, and her kit feels terrible now regardless.

Ysayle1 votes

Honestly, I just wish they would make it so having a creep die while your shield is flinging toward it still gives you a shield, instead of having it fall stupidly to the side. It's extremely tilting, especially considering it used to work this way when the rework was released.

Niyume3 votes

Haha, just one of the many little things that make her kit feel bad. I don't know why Riot hates her so much. : /

Ysayle1 votes

As a huge poppy fan... honestly, I'm kinda afraid of her being overbuffed if they go ahead with it. I still remember 7.1 where she was actually super strong. I couldn't scroll three lines on the board without being constantly faced about long hate-posts against her, it felt pretty bad :( I'd just like them to do some super slight touches so she feels better to play without necessarily being much stronger.

Niyume2 votes

I want them to take her back to her rework release in 5.24, minus the usual release bugs. When she was actually balanced, and when her kit felt right.

I'll give you a stupid OP rune stupid OP rune setup for poppy that will make you enjoy league in the toplane again.

Inspiration X Domination

Kleptomancy(your passive creates EzPz items for you by Q auto enemy laner)

Delivery biscuts(will get your mana pool up and Kleptomancy can make biscuts that also give you more mana)

Free 10 minute boots(300G above your opponent already? dang. Well good thing you're gonna make a good 400 from klepto alone before laning ends)

+100 health and -10% damage(The 10% damage reduction reduces your Q by basically nothing because a % of a % is insanely small).

Resolve:

Demolish(cause now your enemy laner can't leave lane without losing looooooots of towers)

  • Armor + MR at 10 minutes (this just synergizes insanely well with Poppy W passive because both Poppy passive AND this rune stack with each-other.

Build:

If against AD:

Trinity, Steraks, Sunfire, Spirit Visage, Gargoyle Plate, CDR boots.

if against AP:

Spirit visage, Steraks, Gargoyle plate, Death's dance, Maw, Mr/tenacity boots.

This build is hilariously overpowered because it makes poppy a lane bully by virtue of: her q is super spammable, which is what let's you get the easy Q passive-Auto proc on enemy champs for an item.

With this build I've been at full inventory by the time I do a first back(usually around the 8-10 minute mark depending on if I got ganked)

It's the funniest thing when you are at full inventory and you Passive auto someone and it spawns a ward RIGHT in their face.

Not to mention you get insane mana + potion sustain, SAFELY, from behind your minions if you are really low health.

It's probably not much help to Poppy's actual problems as a tank but this setup will serve as a nice distraction.

Hope I could help ease the pain,

Eh, dorky builds are fun for a game or two, but I'd rather just have my favorite champ back, if it's all the same. xD

She's still playable as is, but her kit doesn't feel good, and she's really not that strong anymore.

Hopefully this meme build will bring you some laughs!!!!

And hopefully Riot will buff E range ;-;
