I give up too easily on learning new champs

This usually happens within first 10 matches. I play with the new champs I just got, and unless I carry or be decent at the champ from the start, I drop on ever playing that champ again.

For example, I bought Olaf the other day because he looked badass and played badass on youtube and during matches. I lost the first 4 matches before refunding him. Then I bought Vi, whom I won 8/10 matches, and kept her around ever since.

My friend, who plays frequently with me always tells me "How can you become better at the champion if you don't play him/her?" I totally see his point, but if I feed 0/6 to a Hecairm to trolled by running down mid and Yasuo mid, I really don't see a point of playing Ahri.

Maybe it's because I suck at certain lanes or the champs who are on the higher skill ratings?

Here are lists of champs that I kept and champs that I dropped:

Kept: Vi , JarvanIV , Brand , Caitlyn Sejuani , Renekton ,Jayce, Twitch , Warwick Dropped: Tryndamere ,Sivir , TwistedFate , Ahri , Vladimir , Malzahar ,Gangplank, Garen , Alistar , Amumu , Ashe , DrMundo , Kayle , Hecarim , MissFortune , Malphite ,LeeSin, Olaf

Looking at the dropped list, I think it has to do something with either not killing the enemy fast enough or dying too much. Now before you ask "Why don't you just stick with champions you are good at?", I hate whenever I get my champ banned then get counter picked. Although I am semi-decent at playing safe, I find myself relying on my team too much, which doesn't work when I suck or my teammates suck.

I had the exact same problem, I enjoy playing champions with teamfight winning ultimates (Zilean, Ammumu, ect.) So when I was looking for a new jungler to play, I chose skarner thinking that I could lock down adcs and pair well with assassins. Played around 15 games lost like 11 of them, it was a nightmare. I don't understand my playstyle enough to pick someone else, but the way I see it, as long as you have 3 champions for your main role, and 2 for each secondary role, it should be good. No player can play every champion, it also ties into what you LIKE playing as.
