How to play against Illaoi.

Don't shop while recalling. Tentacles will kill you.

Ranged champions work pretty well against her. They can take out the tentacles safely and whittle her down without constantly risk being slammed by her Q.

Treat Illaoi as pre-bug fix pre-nerf Darius - without the execute ultimate of course. She has one of the highest base AD and base spell damage in the game. As well, her tentacles can easily heal her for 10% of her missing health or more depending on the number of targets with a well timed W.

Her E will also 50-0 you at max rank if you fail to escape the range or peel her off of your spirit.

However, she has relatively short range, so champions such as or are extremely effective in trading against her and zoning her from your spirit.

I would imagine that high DPS champions such as or might also work well against her. Rather than risk being poked down by her tentacles, just all in her if she grabs your spirit.

Late game, she does fall off a bit. Without a reliable gap closer, Illaoi can get kited and picked off by the ADC.

Honestly ive only played her twice and have yet to face her, so my info is limited, but id suggest not trading with her while she has tentacles around her. Try taking them out prematurely, also this is something i notice a lot, most people run away when i hit them with E but it also activates when you run out of range. So try to attack her while she focuses it, but be very careful to not be hit by while she is attacking the ghost or you will take massive damage. She seems to fall off a bit mid game and never really catches back up unless she is really fed, so just try to survive until then. She also does physical damage so build Armor and Health to minimize her damage, but also just try to dodge her Q's and other tentacles.

If she E's you, fighting her actually makes you safer.
