Fastest Way to get good at a new Role?

Hey guys! I've been playing a lot of rotational champions for m first year and now can play every role to some extent, but no one role especially well. I've been meaning to stick to ADC with minimal jungle and mid for the last month and a half (Little to you but a lot of dedication for me) and I was wondering how I can efficiently learn how to play one or two roles. (ADC then Mid). FYI I play around only 10 hours a week, and I'm in High School still. If it helps, I play Twitch and Draven on ADC and I am planning on buy Vayne next. On Mid, I play Ryze, Twisted Fate, and Kassadin. Also, how much does watching pro player streams or gameplays help? Thanks!

Watching pro players stream will probably just make you feel like shit.

But because they do know what they're doing, it would still make for good contrast and comparing with what you do. But if you just want to learn how to perform the fundamentals better, it would just be better to practice. Either way, there's no short cuts.

Watching pros helps specifically if you're watching what they do and taking it into your own playstyle (when relevant).

Here's how I learn best: Personally, I started as a top main. I wanted to try jungle, so I started playing champs top who would also be good jg, then made the switch once I felt comfortable with them. For example, Maokai, old Yorick, J4.

Using a champ who's good at multiple roles is really one of the best ways to go about it so you can learn them in a place you're comfortable, then take the champ you're now comfortable with into an unfamiliar role.

For ADC/Mid like you're trying now, maybe try out Lucian/Corki/Ezreal/Varus.

Practice makes perfect. Just play a lot of games.

The fastest way to get good at a new role is to just understand everything about what the role is there for in a game and then practice to apply this to your gameplay. I recently just went to maining top. By recently, I mean it's been about 2-3 months. However, I am currently able to play at the same level that I was able to play adc at and it was my one of my worst roles before. When I tried to get better at top, I played a champion that I played in the jungle which I was confident in and very good, which was and still is poppy (currently 1 trick her but I know how to play other top lane champs). Then, I tried to see what the most important parts were to win lane at top lane. I learned that understanding what you champion kill points are and when and how you should trade. Of course this is what happens in most roles but top lane melee match ups usually take a lot of short quick trades which you need to react to. After that, I learned when I should tp bot and what the risks are for doing this. Then, I learned when I should group and when I should split. I also learned to tp flank which I often do to try to win a teamfight for my team to push down towers, get baron, or end the game. Of course, there is still a lot of things that I need to improve but I learned all of this pretty quickly since I tried to see what made top lane, top lane. For the jungle, it's to roam around helping lanes and spotting the enemy jungler out to counter jungle and other things. Adc is more about positioning in lane and teamfights. I can't really say for support since I never really got to main it, same for mid (although I do not the main parts of it).

Of course, a lot of the things to learn is about the champion you play but thinking about the role and improving that role will help you be able to succeed in that role faster than just trying to improve a champion.

It's already been said, but I feel like I only ever "mastered" my role after I picked up watching streamers.

Find a streamer that plays your role who doesn't just stream their games but is educational. There are a handful of particularly helpful streamers out there who interact with chat and explain why they do what they do when they do it. Watching pros will show you great plays, but depending on how quick you can pick it up... finding a non-pro who can explain and answer questions might help you learn faster.

It has been said a million times but watch streamers who are high elo. Not even the whole stream, just watch their highlights on their youtube channel, you'll pick up a shit tonne of stuff if you watch them over and over again.

How they move, combos, map awareness, what to do in situation, stuff like that will be really prevalent stuff thats super easy to pick up on. Also take note of their build: they will have the optimal build for the situation theyre in, so take that on board too!

Good luck man!
