Can someone explain to me why Annie's ult deals more damage than Orianna's ult?

And costs less mana, is instant, longer CC, and is on a shorter CD? Also, don't forget about Tibbers.

CC/utility is actually taxed heavily in terms of damage from everything I've seen. defense and mobility have no effect on damage - but get into the support/tanky CC realm and you will do less damage than a fighter, assassin, marksman, or mage.

Orianna is a pretty even blend of mage and support, and pays a bit for her damage because of her shield/initiate/counter-initiate/peel/team speed-boost/team zonning potential. It's also worth noting Ori's ult applies airborne-style CC, which is unaffected by tenacity and cannot be removed by cleanse/qss/mikael's/mercurial/oranges, making it essentially the true-damage of CC.

Ori's AA steroid, shielding, range, and wave-clear generally lead to such a safe/dominant lane-phase she usually out-CSes her opposition so hard she does the same damage as several of her foes regardless, just through sheer itemization power. With Ori in particular, damage is also incredibly relevant on the play skill. Command:Attack's damage is applied every time her ball soars through targets, which can be accomplished from moving the ball through the shield command. Skilled players can get a lot of damages from Ori.

Also, range does tend to tax damage in many cases. Caitlyn is not going to win a face-tank fight vs. Tristana, Tristana will loose to Draven, Draven to Vayne, Vayne to Riven, Riven to Fiora. The less range you get, the more ass-whupping a champion tends to pack when they actually get close enough to hit things (otherwise more range > less range every time). This at least allows for less range to win if they find an opening, and more range obviously can abuse out-ranging their opponents to win.

Annie does not have the same poke-range as Ori. Annie doesn't have the same level of utility. And Annie's wave-clear sacrifices her passive to AoE minions, so her CSing tends to suffer.

Annie's ult is pretty redic though. If you total all ~45 seconds of her teddy bear, it's the most damaging skill in the game by a rather large margin.

Range, radius , kit. Anything else?

IDK, Annie ult's radius is pretty deceptive to me since the damage always seems to affect everyone even if they're not clustered together. Could be a bug or glitch.

Ori's not a very good sympathy champ since she's also broken as hell.

Ori's ult pulls them together to get womboed. Not much, but its a little reason. Aren't they both 100mana at both ranks? Also, Orianna's in longer range- a lot longer.

Orianna's ult cost 150 mana at level 3, Annie's costs 100 mana at all ranks. Balanced.

Orianna's combo is also alot slower and allows some time for flashes here and there so she's not really much better than Annie.

Orianna also has a QW with 430 + 130%AP in magic damage at 875 range; I don't think that annie has that; ori also has a .4% ap scaling shield; sure annie does more damage but it's a lower range and drops the utility that ori's W and E have.
