Balancing The Game
I have been playing this game since the beginning of season 1. Since then, it was my favorite game to play until now. I have docked more hours on league than anything else i can think of, call me addicted. Despite all of my play time, im still only gold 2 because i decided to start climbing ranked nearing the end of season 2 and my learning curve is pretty large. Regardless, i find it rather hard to climb now a days, much more so than before, especially considering im a jungle main. But heres the thing Riot. Im pretty good at what i do, i usually manage to pull off a good score, but it isnt enough to carry my team like it was before. Balance? I think not. The reason it is so tough, is because of the focus on mobility and dealing with whatever overloaded kits these new champs come out with. And quite frankly, ive concluded that the game is broken. Much more so than balanced. Your buff barge needs to park somewhere and refuel, and you need to take a step back and look at the game. And ill tell you why.
Back in the good ol days of season 1 and 2, you released a lot of good champs, with creative concepts and workable, somewhat healthy kits to tear up the summoners rift. But somewhere down the line, you started releasing champions with kits that have so much in them that it would be crazy not to buy them. A smart play on your part, since you probably made more revenue than my entire town combined off of them. But when you have a champion like Ashe for instance, lined up against Kalista or graves or Lucian. 9 times out of 10 the ladder will win, and its because of intense mobility and high damage that Ashe simply cannot keep up with. Before there were things like glass cannon or low mobility, high damage output that made the game like a rock paper scissors duel, and pick and bans were everything. But with the game focusing more and more on mobility, champs that simply lack it, like Ashe, Malzahar, Ryze etc. Have a really tough time keeping up. And dont forget, most of us grew up with these champs and still love them to this day.
Your game has become dominated by overloaded kits, and super mobility and it creates an imbalance because half of the champs in league cant keep up and are barely playable unless you have a good team to make up your weaknesses. So how do we fix this? Either nerf mobility in general, and stop releasing champs with insane mobility until the problem is fixed, or take a break and balance all of your early champs to make the game healthy. There is a distinct reason why the champion roster is about 30 champs that are viable and the rest are jokes, its because these 30 champs have insane mobility and damage, and the older ones just cant keep up. I have a lot of trouble carrying on the rift these days, because if i pick champ that is mobility based, i lose out on other important tools that make carrying important. And if i have baddies botlane, midlane or toplane, which is almost every game, we get stomped even if i manage to pull off an 8/0 score on leesin, because i simply do not have enough to quell the enemy teams strengths. They get so much out of the gold they receive for winning lane, that they get a commanding lead on us by midgame, and we get squished. I understand solo que has baddies, and that im supposed to improve my own performance. But the fact of the matter is, with the mobility focus, you require your whole team or at least 4 members to be doing decent or at least not feeding and doing dumb stuff in order to win.
The team aspect of this game doesnt and shouldnt exist in solo que for the sole purpose of demonstrating ones individual skill and capabilities. The way i could make up for my teams shortcomings before simply doesnt cut it anymore, because i do not get rewarded properly enough for my performance to help them win. So i pretty much have to hope we get a perfect team composition, or hope that my team has a good idea about what they are doing or it will be quite likely that we will lose. While i am still climbing in elo slowly, its too slow and painful for me to keep playing because i do not have fun barely winning from the skin on my balls game after game, and fighting with my team to think logically. Its because it doesnt matter how fast i am, i could play hecarim and go sanic fast, but if im not strong enough to take out the 6/0 graves at 10 minutes it means nothing. Mobility is good, i love it in fact. But basing a game off of mobility is starting to hurt it. So please Riot, head my words. I love this game and community too much to leave it, but i am losing interest more and more everyday.
Take a break from producing $4.20 skin ideas, new overloaded champions, visual updates and the like for just a month or so, and balance the game. Fix it. Either bring the old champs up to snuff, or nerf the mobility and stop releasing champs that have 4 abilites and 6 passives, because this game is hurting. Badly.
And as for the Pro players who play this game, and determine the "meta" with a simple urgot pick. Please keep in mind, that even though they rake in all the dollars, your loyal community is what got you started, and who stuck with you through thick and thin. And we make up millions of players who decide to play your game day to day, rather than Diablo 3 or Dota 2. We stick with you, and want this game to be better. So instead of making all of your balance decisions to cater to the couple hundred "Pro Players" you have out there making plays everyday, and keeping dreams inside of the Bronze players thoughts, think about solo que for now. Please, i beg you. Because if i could jump into the LCS tomorrow i would, but like millions of us, i dont get that luxury, so instead i wanna make my own plays, and win my games competitively. Within the comfort of a healthy solo que.
