Tips to Help Improve as a Player
-
**One of the better ways to improve as a player is to think only about your plays and what you could do to improve**. Did you farm well enough? Did you play too scared? Was your positioning a little off? Did you make bad decisions? -
** Another thing is to never think too much about your rank**. Sure, if you get hardstuck d5, then demoted into p1, or the same with other elos then it becomes extremely frustrating. However, the rank that you get isn't a true indication of whether you are playing well or badly. Thinking about if you did well or bad in multiple games is generally a better indicator of how well you are playing than looking at your current rank. If you think too much about your rank when you are doing extremely well, you might get arrogant like me and think that you won't be able to lose since you just win so much. This is exactly what happened to me on my alternate account, I was getting too over myself and I was having games that I didn't play well. In two of my games, I knew I did poorly but I didn't care since I just kept winning. This led me to just continue to play poorly on the next games. When this happened I actually stopped playing for the day. I just ended in series but I knew I wasn't happy with how badly I was playing, even on my main champion . -
**Taking breaks when you feel like you aren't preforming as you should be can help to keep you on the right track**. When I start to feel like i'm playing poorly, I sometimes take a step back. I feel like I generally play better in the next day since I am more focussed. I also try to analyze my mistakes and try to realize that I need to focus and play to the best of my ability. -
**Trying to improve only 1 thing for a bit of time can help a ton**. Usually, in high elo, I don't think this applies as much since it becomes harder to play against very good players. There are sometimes a trick or a build you can learn to improve the way you play but it usually boils down to what you are struggling the most with. In lower elo, improving 1 thing at a time is a lot easier to handle than trying to learn everything at once. This also applies to high elo but they usually, or should have, all their basics really high up. Only trying to farm up creeps and not thinking about trading will help your farming. Then, trying to trade a ton will help out how to trade in lane. Trying to do both at the same time will help to improve the general basics of the laning. Heck, even high elos need to improve their basics. That's generally why the higher elo you go, the more farm and better trading that they do is. Making of those things, farming or trading, will increase your performance in games faster than you would by playing normally. This also applies to all forms of basics like decision making, roaming, all in fights, positioning, mechanics, etc. -
**Learning from your opponent can also help to climb and to improve your performance as a player**. I personally have only used this skill noticably in bronze to gold since this is actually the 1 tip that I got to gold with in my first complete ranked season (season 4, I did play in season 3 but only for the end of it). An example is if the adc does a smart move, like going to the bush so you lose vision and then win the fight due to it, you can apply this **to your own playstyle**. On this tip, **never** try to copy a player exactly. If you see someone do something smart that you didn't realize you could of, put it into your own playstyle. There is no real example for this since everyone has their own personal playstyle that they play with, but just never copy someone doing it with his or her playstyle.
tldr: Think about ways that you could improve as a player, don't overthink about your rank as it isn't a true indication of skill, taking breaks when you feel that you aren't preforming as much as you should be, trying to improve only on 1 thing at a time can help to improve your skill in a more efficient way, and learning from your opponent can help you climb and improve your skill a ton.
