This New Grasp of the Undying change is not a Good Idea
The number 1 issue with changing Grasp of the undying is how bad the rune diversity will be, specifically to tanks.
Let's say
wants to run the new grasp. What will he earn from it? 4% hp heal, and 1.25% max hp as ap per stack. He gained 2% heal and lost 4% of his max hp as magic damage to the target. This is already a huge nerf to it's early game. This means that
will be weaker with grasp early game and be stronger in split pushing. However, maokai does not want to split push. He wants to teamfight. This means that you can basically not take the new grasp of the undying on him and you will have to go aftershock.
This hurts rune diversity, the one thing that the reworked runes should be about. People should be able to take a few runes that they prefer to run and use it on their champion.
If I play
which is my main champion currently, I should be able to take grasp of the undying or aftershock. I prefer grasp of the undying over the other rune, but this rework will force me to only choose aftershock. Why should I be forced to pick a certain rune only because it's the best option out there?
If bruisers and fighters need help, then give them a better keystone to work on them. Do not change a keystone that already gave tanks another keystone to change their playstyle around.
Also, the rework runes could end up to create broken champs like shen since shen will use it extremely well. Trundle could end up being too strong too but he is currently a little weak I think (mainly due to everyone playing squishy top laners).
tldr: Grasp of the undying is going to ruin rune diversity for tanky top laners.
