New champs in ranked is a problem.

You guys remember when they changed it so that free champs couldn't be played in ranked? Well that needs to happen to newly released champs. Was in a ranked queue and a guys says not to ban Rek'Sai. Told him she was weak and he should play someone else. He picks her anyway and proceeds to go 0/12. Please at least make it so that new champs can't be played in ranked for a week. This is getting kind of stupid.

I feel at least for the 1st week when they are 7800 they should be disable from ranked. My 2 cents.

They should make you have to win 2 normals with a champ before you can play them in ranked.

A possible problem with this would be owning champs for the purpose of first picking - you wouldn't be able to do that even if you were planning on trading them.

inb4 the obligatory "just ban them".

Although I completely agree, you shouldn't have to waste a ban just to ensure that your team isn't going to play the newest champion that no one knows how to play...

Honestly through, the real issue is players bringing any champions into ranked that they have not spent adequate time playin in normals. I woukd be ok with a system that forces a minimum of X games in normals before bringing any champions into ranked. That way can always be sure players have some baseline of experience using whoever they lock-in.

Its more based on your ELO, in high elo if a player hasn't learned a champion they won't play it.

Rek'sai, weak? What are you smoking? In my opinion, it's pretty fair to be using a champion once it is released. Given that I, among many others, have PBE access, I can easily test the champion and play it enough times until I feel confident to use it in ranked.

It'll never happen. Pro players should be able test new champions in solo queue as soon as they're released.

Also streamers would miss out on some of the new champion hype.
