Playing Akali : bronze 5 advice

Hi, I'm BLACK REALM GOD

some of you may know me and think dear god your k/d/a is awful, you're in bronze, why would anyone listen to you?

and while that may be true hear me out.

I've spent several hours playing akali and i think that i might have found a build that works for her. take this with a grain of salt for all of you akali mains because im going to make suggestions that might seem extremely taboo. please try it at least 5 - 10 times in unranked before accepting that it doesnt work for you.

so on to the build :

Akali summoner 14 summoner 4

Runes :

  • electrocute
  • sudden impact
  • eyeball collector
  • relentless hunter/ultimate hunter
  • scorch/truimph
  • adaptive focus/coup de grace

build path :

item 1036 item 3364 item 3133 or item 3020 item 3134 or item 3020 item 3147 item 3057 item 3113 item 3100

optional items :

item 3157 item 3102 item 3142

ability path :

E Q W W W R W Q W Q R Q Q E E R E E

Strategy :

akali is super squishy with only 21 armor and 32 magic resist. her HP makes her super easy to kill because her regen is very low. she is the ultimate glass cannon outplay champ.

if youre laning against another squishy glass cannon opponent then feel free to head to lane. if not consider going to another lane and attempting to get first blood.

run to whatever lane has the lowest HP/Armor/Magic resist champion in lane. try to stay out of sight. if it's a lane different from the one you were assigned then you'll be trying to make a level 1 play. the combination is as follows.

E>E>auto>Ignite. your electrocute should be able to help you deal all of their hp in that single combo. it helps if you've cleared a ward with your oracle lens. if you dont get first blood leave and go back to your lane knowing you pushed an opponent out of their lane. if you get first blood recall and buy a second longsword. now you're ready to wreck havoc.

if laning against a squishy feel free to wait until level 2 or 3 to make the play. having your extra abilities will ensure you're able to get the kill by allowing you to deal additional damage. with your Q resets.

the combo described above (E>E>auto>ignite>) can be extended to make difficult plays easier the more your level up your Q and W because leveling those two skills specifically increase your energy efficiency.

for example :

Flash>E>E>auto>Q>W>auto>Q>ignite>auto>R>auto>R

Q>auto>E>E>W>auto>R>auto>Q>auto>R

and there are quite a few more.

essentially once you reach both level 5 Q and level 5 W you now have 3 Q's that can be performed back to back.

Q W Q Q can be performed in a matter of 3-5 seconds should you learn the placement of the Q in order to get immediate max range empowered autos.

rationality :

akali has super squishy armor/magic resist/hp/regen etc.

also her abilities (specifically her E and her R's first attack) have terrible ability power ratios. many people are still building hextec on her and while that may work sometimes, the fact that her Q is now a cone, her R is a line dash, and the abundance of grievous wounds prevents her healing, the limited healing and stats that gunblade provides does not outweigh the cost. this is an opinion personally.

if you look at all of akali's ratios they perform better with attack damage than ability power while still providing magic damage. due to the lack of magic penetration in the game and the lower ability power ratios i think it's smarter to go with lethality options and enhance your kill potential through your E, initial R, and your auto attack. after all your second R is an execute that deals more damage based on how low your opponent is. if your opponent doesnt take any damage from your initial E E auto R combo because they have high base stat armor then you're wasting your second R because it wont do full damage. and you cant always rely on allies to get the enemies low for you.

dusk blade specifically grants you a massive steroid of damage any time you go into your shroud. if you play it correctly you can get 3 empowered autos from shroud late game with the duskblade passive and lichbane added onto them. comboing together both magic and physical damage in this way will allow you to be effective to some degree regardless how the opponent itemizes and ensure that you get the most bang for your buck on your abilities.

thanks for reading. discuss below after trying this and let me know how it works for you or if it doesnt work. please no hateful comments from people who are upset about the rework or people telling me i shouldnt be posting advice since im bronze v. stick to the discussion.

i've found more often than not builds are opinion based and situational.

I prefer phase rush akali. Akali's kit gives her tons of movement speed, so if you stack that onto phase rush and celerity your bonus AD/AP gets to pretty loony levels. You can also take null magic mantle or nimbus cloack since you'll be fighting mages. Secondary would be domination with ultimate hunter and either zombie wards for more map awareness or sudden impact.

that's an interesting build. i was building waterwalking and celerity on her as secondary runes a few times. i might try phase rush akali at least once. it would stack with youmuus and spellbinder. plus lich bane gives some movement speed also. a single E E auto combo should activate it easily.

do you think it'd be worth it to pick up phantom dancer? since akali's armor and magic resistances are super low maybe the 12% damage reduction would serve her better?

The attack speed wouldn't be too useful. She only tries to auto attack when she has empowered kama so most of phantom dancer's stats would go to waste in the end. Triforce could be good though. Phage + Sheen would be really good on her.

well... what if you built quinsoos on her and then made her an on hit attack speed champ?

You do not auto much as akali as you're always weaving in and out of battle. Attack speed is a wasted stat on her. She's not like Diana who uses quite a lot of autos.

thats true. wish there was an AP+AD item for champs that rely mainly on abilities and not their basic attack. gunblade and guinsoos are for basic attackers more than ability casters. nashoors is the same. honestly the only items for ability casters that spell weave (lux, morgana pre passive change, new akali, etc.) is the sheen items. specifically lich bane if they're heavy ap magic based.
