The 1 extra placement match for flex queue really screwed over everyone

So when I first played my 10 placement matches i was pleased when i went either 8-2 or 7-3, can't remember, and got placed into gold 4 (I'm gold 5 soloq). As we all know there were diamonds and plats playing with gold players and ever two days ago I saw a game where bjergsen was up against a gold 2 player mid lane, talk about a fiesta. Riot's "fix" to this issue was to add 1 more placement match. This is what screwed over everyone. I went from being in gold 4, to now in bronze 1. In my extra placement match I had a teemo jg player who had 18 deaths, was extremely toxic, would frequently go afk cause "omg team sux" and etc. etc. The typical experience you'd expect with silver and bronze players who have no control over emotions or the champions they play. Now I have to try to make my way back up out of bronze and silver back to where my original MMR is which is impossible because cases like that teemo jg doing just about every bad thing in the book on top of being a bad player in general is going to be present in every single match. So my proposal is that riot just resets ranked, has everyone do 10 placements again and just go from there because the 1 placement match game really screwed a lot of people. I have friends who are plat players who got placed into low silver, I know 2 diamond players that got put into low gold...so yeah can we do something about this?[slayer-jinx-unamused]

  1. You're supposed to be a lot lower in rank after placements than where you ended last season (this is just how they do it every year)
  2. The flex queue placements were accidentally placing people a lot higher than they should (some were even placed higher than last season)
  3. the extra placement match was supposed to just put you where you were supposed to be.

Not screwed over. Just a fixing you being where you shouldn't have been placed.

that actually isnt that wrong of a placement no offense. I got place roughly the same amout of tiers as well i ended Season 6 as Plat 4 and after the fix i was put into gold 5 which is 6 tiers and this seems to be about the same for you as well.

I dont see any problems with the current way flex is my last few games were against plat/gold players which is in the ballpark of my solo Q MMR. Riot even stated that you will be put into a rank that is lower than your MMR. Plus its the preseason and if you are better than bronze 1 then you should have no problem getting back to your actual MMR.

The absolute highest anyone was able to be placed in was plat 1 and most likely this when to the like top 50 challenger players and so on. So gold doesn't sound wrong for diamond players

Gold for Diamond players ? You need a sanity check, that is a 2 division drop, just like i was g3 and, i got g5 on the first 10 matches and after that 1 game i got bronze 1.

Yeah, I've noticed this too, went from plat 5 to Silv 4 and went 6-4, still never seen that big of a drop, last season I did terrible in my placements and went from G5 to S5, not bad at all for going 2-8 or something.
