MS Ping tester in client?

For Carthage··12 votes·876 views

Can we get this in client so I don't have to jump in a custom game, wait for it to load, and sit there for a minute every single time I log in just to ensure I don't have any surprises when I get into a game?

Honestly, having to find out my ping either that way or just on the fly in game isn't exactly thrilling. Or convenient.

You could always open up a command prompt (or terminal, depending on your OS) and shoot a ping to Riot's server. That will give you a good reading of your ping, and you can leave it on for a minute while logging in, setting up music or whatever to see if it jumps at all.

Edit: I believe the IP address of the new server is: 104.160.131.1

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Edit 2: On windows it would just be "ping -t 104.160.131.1" That should give you your delay in MS. On a Unix-like environment(OsX or a linux distro) it would just be "ping 104.160.131.1"

While helpful, also pretty roundabout and obnoxious to do when a simple command prompt built into the client itself would solve this issue with permanence.

Except you then have to memorize the IP address everytime you want to run a ping test.

After a few times the address is easy enough to memorize.

That said you shouldn't have to. This isn't a hard feature to add. But considering we are nearing the end of season 5 and we still can't reorganize our rune pages... I wouldn't hold my breath.

Off topic, but isn't the reason we can't reorganize rune pages because they want us to spend money to unlock more rune pages?

You down need to memorize it at all. Open up a text document

@echo off ping -t 104.160.131.1 pause >nul

Save it as whatever.bat

Run it whenever you want.

Usually it's obvious when server is fked since everything lags, including champ select and things like open profile, store, etc.
