With some modification, Wit's End would be a great Specter's Cowl upgrade!

It makes sense given the niches the items are filling and could breathe new life into Wit's End. What do you think?

I don't how all those extra stats would fare on the item. The price would have to be increased, or the effects nerfed, you know? And right now, Wit's End has a clear message: I buff your attacks and steal Magic Resistance. But with Health, Health Regen, Attack Speed, Magic Resistance and Attack Speed, the item would become something else. Not as effective offensively as it had been before, but not a real defensive item either. That's not its identity. Not right now, at least.

##Wit's End

  • Recipe: Spectre's Cowl + Recurve Bow + 300 Gold = 2600 Gold
  • 40% Attack Speed
  • 200 Health
  • 40 Magic Resistance
  • UNIQUE Passive: Grants up to 150% base Health Regen after taking damage from an enemy champion.
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal 42 bonus magic damage on hit.

I worry about giving it its Magic Resistance siphon effect, or any higher stats for that matter.
The current Wit's End is a lot less gold efficient. It had a 78 -- 95.3% efficiency, which it could only earn after attacking five times in a fight.
My suggestion - which has almost the minimum amount of stats - has a 94.3 -- 115% efficiency, and you only need to enter combat to get the higher number. I suppose the one passive could be cut (then Spectre's Cowl simply always loses its passive). Then the older passive could be added again ...

  • 40% Attack Speed
  • 200 Health
  • 40 Magic Resistance
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks deal 42 bonus magic damage on hit.
  • UNIQUE Passive: Basic attacks steal 5 Magic Resistance from the target on hit (stacks up to 3 times).

Now the Magic Resistance adds up. The lost 10% Attack Speed also makes up for the 200 Health (gold wise). WIt's End would then become less offensive and more defensive, with 10 more innate Magic Resistance, but you can steal only 10 less, and 200 Health instead of 10% Attack Speed. I guess this could work. It would still be a buff since the build path was so simplified. Hmm ... I still don't see the need, though, to be honest.

+1 for discussion's sake anyways.

i really dont want to lose that attack speed of wits end or the mr steal because that is the point of the items itself everything else is secondary

I agree that Wit's End is a wonky item, but I feel like Spectre's Cowl might make it too strong. Spectre's Cowl as an individual item is extremely efficient and that kind of worries me when talking about Wit's end, because it suddenly gives you a strong defensive component for building a relatively offensive item

its not that wonky its that allmost all the characters its good on has beeen pushed into support role or some times mage like orianna. i find great use with leona and braum they can challange non fed adc with that items and building into defense or defensive fighters

wit's end is terrible on all those champions you listed. It's a wonky item because it's a quasi-offensive/defensive item. It isn't a great defensive item alone and isn't a great offensive item for a lot of champs either, so it gets pushed out of a lot of item builds

you say that but i bet you have never tried it on them its no longer good on orianna it was a year or 2 ago but i find my self being able to beat adcs when I have suppressed them adequately in lane in conjunction with my physical damage superior defense and hard cc and on hit magic damage and attack speed versus a champion that nearly only has 30 mr in the first place i can steal those stats which though aren't good late game are great early

define alot of champs items have their places to do specific things for certain champions that find the item use-full item 3124 isnt considered to be a good item by most people but it has its uses other items just out class every thing else and thats why they are staples on carries

If Wit's had some sort of scaling component (%max HP damage like the old Madred's or %Resist stealing) then it would be fine solo.

If Wit's had other offense/defense OnHit magic damage items to synergize with it would also be okay.
