I think this is really abusable and not so fair. It threatens the ranked system's integrity and takes away meaning from what rank 1 is about. The current rank 1 (Grig1) duos a lot and I just don't think there's any way in hell that doesn't distort things compared to solo players.
One of the easiest ways to abuse duoQ is by having some high ranked player sign into a much lower ranked smurf (even without win trading). This would basically remove the MMR penalty for duoQ.
I think considering that top 100 challenger is used even for scouting purposes, this is pretty messed up. It makes it harder for people with raw talent to be discovered and makes a farce of the ranked system at the highest brackets.
Solo should be solo, but as for challenger, idc im not there and i never will be lol.

OP is correct. If this was happening in the NHL, NFL or like "pro" field there would be hell to pay. I just don't understand why Riot doesn't resolve this properly considering they are trying to claim League is a valid e-sport. It's current state I am only, and still over the years, seeing abuse of the system along side the same old boring people, over and over in the semi's. Very stale!

let's face it, duo q or not, if you're top 50 you probably deserve to be there?
They changed it since most challenger games featured master/high diamond duos anyway, so allowing the challengers to duo as well basically just leveled the playing field.
Riot is an amateur company, and the word "fairness" does not exist in their vocabulary.
