Hmmm... Zed. A champion that is really fun to talk about and to see what others think about him. He is fairly popular in every division. Maybe people play him because they think he is fun and they like his kit, but I think most people play him based off the LCS or people like Bjergsen.

Now my opinion on Zed. I think Zed is fairly unpredictable, especially in divisions like bronze, silver, gold, and even platinum. Now I'm not saying every Zed I is bad, but I am saying that I think most of them are. I mean tons of things counter his most impactful ability; flash, QSS, Hourglass, Blinks, ETC. From my experience in Plat and under, I have seen MANY Zeds that just feed games because of their greedy plays, and when the Zed gets them low, the Mid laner just uses Hourglass. Now I may be wrong... Idk... inform me about your ideas on Zed. :D

The biggest complaint I have about Zed is that there's only one way to go against him. Rush Hourglass. You can't poke him down, you'll run out of mana. You can't influence his build path, you don't have the damage or the mana to make him afraid of you early.

I also find it funny that so many people talk about the counters to Zed's ult, but how are they all that different than the counters to Zigg's ult? Or Viktor's ult? QSS is your only difference, and even then the MR will help you out. The difference is people don't feel trapped into building these items against other champions.

A zed that knows how to place his shadows and use his slow is a dangerous zed. A fed zed forces mid lanes to buy hourglass and adcs to buy qss.

QSS needs an AP build path.

And his ulti escape is better to only be given after he scored an assist or kill (I would say kill only due to his character in general, and the fact he already has another).

Zed is too overpowered. The only way to stop him is with a stun or hourglass.

I honestly think zed is in a great position balance wise. I know its the unpopular opinion, but yea, He doesnt have lock down cc, he has energy costs, and his ult is completely skill based for damage.
