Does he even see any play diamond+?
Just curious, because it seems that if you know how to build mercs or if you have mobility, Veigar is pretty useless against you.
Not interesting in raging or flaming. Veigar is one of my fav champs, and I'm just curious about his viability in the upper tiers.
well obviously, they ruined old veigar and changed his playstyle completely.
He started seeing competitive play... as a support... just like annie... so they nerfed him.... removing his ability to support... and hurting his laning at the same time... while removing his core item... and nerfing his ult ap ratio... so no more competitive play for him... probably ever... still played in solo q... only by people that think he's fun... not because he's better then anyone else.
There are only about ~15 of us in diamond+. One is also permabanned, so rip.
No. His early game is too exploitable and his already easy-to-avoid stun is nearly impossible to land on top-tier players, who will also punish you incredibly hard for missing it.

In the pro scene, the main reason he was picked was for his point and click AoE stun. Not his damage. Simply because his E was flawed by design back then and was broken beyond belief.
Now there are just better picks because you actually have to think about when to use it. But there are quite a few Veigar mains from what I see in platinum range.
He's not played professionally, but I believe he sees a lot of love from his high-tier mains.
Can I just say I don't think Veigar is THAT bad, he clearly needs buffs but I think people overreacted to his nerfs (Which were unfair) but every time a Veigar one-shots me because I went AP Mid even when I have Magic Resist itemS I just feel like there's more to Veigar than useless purple meteors.
Look up Strompest. He's about Master and sometimes plays Veigar. Competitively, I haven't seen him in play but he seems to fit snuggly into a niche role if it ever comes by.
If they give him 25 more range, his early won't be too bad. Last hitting with autoattacks is kind of dangerous with him. His R is also not with great range - 650.
