Support has really been put under the bus...
All I've been reading on the boards lately is a.) Oh no the mages are useless, b.) Oh no Yasuo and Tryndamere are so OP now, c.) Minion changes are awful!" I haven't seen one post about how hard supports have been hit.
My job is to make sure that my ADC stays alive, as well as the rest of the team. When they fuck up it's my job to run to their rescue.
But guess who may have been hit the hardest in this latest patch? Could it be... supports? Nah, it couldn't be. I mean all these changes in damage, critical strikes, life-steal and the plethora of other "changes" couldn't really affect anyone other than my favorite carry role, right?
I'm not by any means the best player in the world, but supporting is my favorite role. It means that in the early game I can make sure, even if my ADC is bad, that they get fed. It means that when my team messes up an initiation I can come in to the rescue and hard disengage someone or their entire team. As of this latest patch, guess what? I can't.
Yeah, I might still be able to affect the early game. Before anyone has their core items and builds. Maybe. But once some carry gets just a few kills and a few items because of that everything goes bonkers. A Braum with 200+ armor, movement and attack slows and max shield is not supposed to die in 3-4 hits from an AD carry. I'm sorry but from what I know that's a bit much. Even if I somehow outplay them severely with my teammates and lock them down, get them to 1/3 of their HP. Guess what? That life-steal kicks in once they get an auto off and I'm back to square one. Unless every lane on my team knows what they're doing, being a support feels useless the longer the game goes on. Just my thoughts.
Edit: I thought it might be fun to add that my last two ranked games were a win and a loss. This isn't just going on a losing streak and feeling a little sad. In my win there was Yi who went 26-2 in 25 minutes with two penta-kills. The other was a loss with Tryndamere going 21-6 in 32 minutes.
will shine.
