No counter play, there needs to be some.
At least an item active that either negates %damage for 5 seconds or something to mitigate it for a short amount of time so I dont get shredded as a tank vs 
ect...

Armor is the counterplay to that
An item that reduces % damage on you won't reduce Vayne's true damage...
Your counter is armor and building good items, not trash and only HP.
And even Vayne's damage composition is still 70% physical. Saying that armor doesn't help against these champs is just plain wrong.
Kayn isn't going to be shredding tanks.
The reason you died to him as Volibear is because Voli isn't a tank, and because your only complete items were a Cinderhulk and Warmog's.
Vayne and Yi are tank shredders.
Their meant to shred you.
Deal with it.
