Miss Fortune Q Change

Ok. So everytime I try to Q something to punish a enemy behind the "something" (Let's pretend its a minion) it never goes for the Enemy Champion. Cmon Riot lets make her Q prioritize Enemy Champions more then a minion please. Because of this, I've lost many kills... :C

I've personally never had any trouble with shooting enemy champions. It's difficult to land, but for any experienced MF player It's pretty easy and very rewarding, especially after her buffs, her Q does more damage if you bounce it and kill a unit.

Cale0173 votes

Instead of just talking about how easy it is to apparently control an ability that appears to function almost at random, how about you break down how you go about landing it reliably?

A Miss Fortune4 votes

So uh, imagine a line. The line is where you shoot the bullet and where it travels, whatever is directly behind the first target (in a line) will most likely be hit however it sort of can curve a tiny bit. Depending on where you angle, you can shoot the bullet differently. However it pretty much **always travels in an imperfect line ** It's good to auto attack someone, and then poke them if possible, since if a minion and the enemy laner(s) stand next to the minion, the Q will hit whoever has stacks of her Impure Shots.

Also, with the new buff, It's best to poke when your minions are low on health so that when your Double Up hits it, the damage is even further increased when you kill the minion, onto the secondary target.

The ability is pretty difficult to learn, I have to say that it's pretty basic and straightforward but it takes a while to get use to and master. It's very much worth the reward though.

  • Poke when your minions are low (post-5.13)
  • Get your Impure Shot Stacks on them if possible (you can see the debuff if you auto attack them)
  • The bullet flies in a semi-straight-line and it can curve a bit
  • Her Q has 650 range while her AA range is 550
  • You can bounce it off from any different angle

I added a picture I made in paint.net (I know I'm a gifted artist, you don't have to tell me that I'm amazing)

The red dots represent Miss Fortune, the blue dot represents enemy units, and the grey lines represent where she is facing with the grey dots representing the first unit she hit with her Double Up on the line.

Riot stated they changed her Q's logic (again) so it should behave much better in the next patch (5.14).

Yea... my friend asked this to riot and luckly they answered back. They said that only her "bug" would be fixed... so Im guessing that means her Q stuff wont be including this.

DragoonRuin2 votes

They said the cleaned up the logic, that doesn't necessarily mean they changed it to prioritize champions... We can HOPE that's what they did, but I will not assume that until it's put out in writing somewhere.

zFlash962 votes

The only thing that's fucked up is that the ability actually prioritizes minions and monsters (source wikia). There should be no weird priority system whatsoever. It should always hit the most aligned enemy.

Khell DarkWolf1 votes

it prioritizes targets in the back that have an Impure shot stack first, after that it defaults to what is possible in bounce range.

Sona Ping2 votes

Example

That hit the minion because the minion was closer to directly behind it. And it does prioritize champions already. Fix your own play before demanding changes.

SoMNia3 votes

Given both a minion and a champion within the same target cone, it will ALWAYS hit the minion unless the champion has at least one stack of Impure Shots. It will ONLY prioritize champions if they have stacks. Otherwise, it will avoid them. It hit the minion because MF was not autoattacking the champion immediately prior to using Q.

Sona Ping3 votes

Uhm... that doesn't affect anything I wrote. I know how Double Up works; There are tiers of priority. The minion was closer to directly behind and so it fulfilled a requirement of a tier that led to it getting hit. And there are tiers where it will hit champions. There's nothing in error here.

The problem is that he is demanding changes when he doesn't know how things work, like those guys who complain when they use Fortune's and Caitlyn's ult in melee range or write how Cho's 1000 true damage ultimate is OP.

SoMNia4 votes

You said it prioritizes champions. It's very important to note that it will ONLY prioritize champions with W stacks, and otherwise, it won't. Even if the champion had been in the same 20 degree cone as the minion, it would have hit the minion anyway. The fact that it hit the minion was NOT because the minion was closer to directly behind the first target. It was because the champion had no W stacks.

Sona Ping1 votes

It's correct regardless of how you decided to personally interpret it. I was just succinct.

SoMNia2 votes

No, it's misleading. The ability does not just prioritize champions as a matter of course, and in fact, it does the opposite at every priority tier, with the exception being the tier that by definition only contains champions with a certain debuff. The reason you gave for why the minion was hit...was NOT the reason the minion was hit. If the conditions you blamed were not the case, it still would have happened. The conditions in which a champion would be hit have nothing to do with whether a minion is closer to directly behind the first target or not, since a minion who is only AS close will still be prioritized. You came in on your high horse and tried to be condescending, and you were wrong. That's not how I "personally interpret it". Leaving out the only relevant fact is not "succinct". It's flat out wrong.

And by the way, I see your MF games. Win with her first, and THEN you can tell people their play is the reason they're not successful. But if you're going to feed with a champion and tell other people, "fix your own play" with that champion, I'm just going to laugh at you. Now, I don't pretend to be a skilled player, but facts are facts. Try not leaving them out, next time. You could also try not being a jerk, but I won't hold my breath.

Sona Ping1 votes

You try to look up people's games to try and shame them when making arguments over semantics? Really? I wonder who the jerk is here?

And nice job looking up my forum account that I only really use to queue with friends. Just top notch.

SoMNia2 votes

Semantics matter. Words have meaning. If you know what's true, don't get mad at me because what you said was false. I even tried to provide correct information as a matter of fact, with no personal comments and no disrespect intended, TWICE, and you were just as snide with me as you were with the OP. And that's the thing. I'm not shaming your play. I'm shaming the fact that you tried to shame someone else's play, you can't provide a better example, and the thing you told them to do wouldn't even have worked. Do you wonder? Then perhaps you could benefit from a little introspection.

Actually, It only prioritizes champs IF they have stacks of Impure Shots on them, otherwise the next thing in line is Minions. Here's the actual priority on "Live" Miss Fortune.

The second shot follows a priority order on targets within 500 units of the primary target: Enemy champions in a 40° cone with at least one stack of Impure Shots. Minions and neutral monsters within a 20° cone. Enemy champions within a 20° cone. Minions and neutral monsters within a 40° cone. Enemy champions within a 40° cone. Enemy or neutral units within a 110° cone. Enemy or neutral units within a 150-range 160° cone.

Sona Ping1 votes

I know that. It's not completely random; it has priority levels, and priorities for champions; And most importantly, it prioritizes the champion marked with Impure Shots most of all.

WhiskerWow1 votes

I think if every single Q on a minion hit the enemy champion, it would be a little too powerful. They have a good idea though, that if the enemy is within a smaller cone behind the minion, it will the enemy, while if the enemy is at the edges of the cone, it will look for other targets before hitting the enemy.

Marthian1 votes

The problem is if it always prioritized champions, it would be extremely good as a poke skill.

IcyPepper4 votes

Well, tbf, she is supposed to be a lane bully.

If they did make it prioritize champions, it might get a small number nerf.

Remlap12232 votes

Yes, honestly, I don't care about the numbers, but the way it's prioritized now never works out in actuality. You need to have a stack of impure shots for champions to be targeted. Which means you have to attack the enemy. In order to hit them with a poke skill. That's supposed to bounce off minions. Is anyone else seeing the problem with this?

IcyPepper1 votes

Makes it sound more like a trading tool (one aa for your aa, then I can back off and hit you from a distance >:D ) than a poking tool when you put it like that.

Remlap12233 votes

The problem is that minions are terribly unreliable. When people defended Blitz's pull as not being toxic, they say "just use the minions". Well, that's fine and dandy and all, but what happens when you're in the jungle? The river, in dragon pit? Well, then you're going ton a magical journey as a golden robot pounds your butthole until it bleeds.

Same goes for MF. Her Q is already in a pretty meh spot considering how useless it is late game (something that can be mitigated with Triforce), and how unreliable it is during laning phase, and especially after.

IcyPepper1 votes

I don't think Blitz's grab is horribly toxic (it could use a delay like Thresh's tho), I find his ult to be more toxic. At rank one, it has a lesser cooldown than Katarina's max rank. I think it's... 18 seconds with max cdr? Grab, knockup, then silence. Too much synergy with that one spell. He's not OP, but I find him to be a toxic champion in general.

But I agree, MF's Q is a bit meh. Maybe they could increase the range with MF's level (kind of like Trist's passive for her aa range). Or (please don't hate me) turn it into a skillshot similar to Lulu's EQ combo and make the range entirely based on your aim.

Remlap12232 votes

Honestly, at this point, a skillshot sounds alright to me.

Her Q just has no practical uses outside of laning phase unless you build Triforce for the passive proc.

Partholonian4 votes

MF and Lucian Qs are skillshots in disguise. To hit what you actually want to hit, you have to position properly. This takes, well, skill.

She can be amazing if the enemy doesn't know where not to stand, though. And since not many people play her...

I really want Triforce to be good on the new MF, but we'll have to wait and see.

I (and I think Rem is) am aware it is. It's kind of like... Vi's E when used for poke/range during laning. Or how Syndra's E interacts with her Q, sort of. It's not a skilshot in the sense you point a direction and there it goes, you have to position yourself according to a centerpoint of some sorts.

I just shot some idea that MF's Q could work like a skillshot and be free-cast instead of targeted, and ricochet like it already does. Give it more range, but the enemy can dodge a little easier. Not a flat nerf, just a shift in power.

Triforce on MF is already kind of scary on a competent player. Might even be more scarier now.

Exactly. Except the difference is that you know for a fact where Vi's E and Lucian's Q is going. MF's Q is extremely unreliable.

I'd be totally ok with that.

Rest easy, Triforce only procs on the first target hit, so the amplified damage wouldn't work.

That being said, her hypercarry build is the only viable one now since her grievous wounds were removed. That topped with the 3 AA bullshit being completely backpedaled, fear me on the rift boys and girls.

Titty princess may actually be making a comeback.

Bodkins Odds1 votes

It works when you have to Q directly because they're just out of auto-range and there are no minions. Besides which, the TF proc lets her get the bonus damage easier since the initial hit will be more likely to kill its target.

ChaosThief1 votes

It acted fine for me, maybe they're too far from the bounce?

SornAunarra1 votes

How about your W applies a mark to champions with a basic attack that makes your Q second bounce prioritize them. Can only have 1 mark at a time.

zFlash964 votes

Wtf? Her W passive already does exactly that...

SoMNia1 votes

Q prioritizes champions with W stacks, then minions, then champions without W stacks. The point is to force you to trade in order to hit champions with Q, rather than getting free poke while you CS.

Khell DarkWolf1 votes

I say change Q into a miniature grave's ult.

Fire the Shot and then it cones behind in a spray from shrapnel.

The indicator already does that with the cone showing.

Hell, I'd even be okay with it being a skill-shot and even having it not explode unless it makes contact with a target.

Would give it alot more usage past the laning phase into team fights then it already does since you never get to bounce it anyway.

I mean, she technically is firing cannon balls.

Face the fact, you missed the Q at 7:18 in your video:

Q - Double UP - has a cast range of 650 and a bounce range of 500.

Caster minions - have an attack range of 600.

Graves - was out of range when you CAST your Q - Double Up.

And if the positioning on cast isn't what's taken into account then that caster minion was directly behind your initial target ("Double Up's second shot prioritizes enemies directly behind the primary target").

If the way Miss Fortune's Q works truly bothers you, try Lucian.
