A Case for MMR

I'm usually an advocate for things to change as in nerfing x because of (insert bullshit reason here) and remove x champion because they bother me. Although when it comes to MMR I don't think with the way the system starts you out with the provisionals placing you in 3 seperate tiers or even if you possibly could get plat. I'm not sure if you can do that anymore, but the point is that in the end it doesn't really matter what rank you are facing in the game. Usually it is close enough to not be unfair and with an imperfect system of provisionals you still will be placed against some people who A. are simply not that rank anyway because that is not their only account or B. they have just been ranked and they are more skilled than the rank they were given or vice versa. Sure you will face some people that are simply higher rank and more often than not better than you are but in the end the only way to climb the ranks is to beat people that are higher rank than you. This is not a message advocating smurfing or just getting ranked to a skill level that people are much better or worse than, but the real point is most of the time things are fair and if you play enough it will all balance out.
