What was Atmas like before it was removed?

I started playing league late in season 5 so I dont have any recollection of this item ever existing. Was it broken during previous seasons? Was a there a funny-ass build that players would use?

not really broken it was always niche, and when it got removed almost no one used it.

They removed it because they decided it wasn't possible to balance. It was always either must-buy on bruisers or irrelevant.

Original atmas built out of an agility cloak and chain vest, providing armor, crit chance, and AD as a % of health. It was originally meant for adc's as a situational final defensive buy, much like GA. That is why it had crit. Probably the %hp scaling was so it was stronger late game but weaker early game. But %hp scaling is a strange stat for a class that never build health, and, in practice, atmas was stronger on bruisers, like lee sin. When the %health was around 3% it was overpowered, yielding what was called the "meta golem" -- frozen mallet, warmogs, atmas, triforce, boots, and something else (this was when warmogs and atmas both had a ton more health and when %max health damaging abilities and items were rare to nonexistant). The meta golem ran around killing adc's and was very difficult to kill. Consequently, atma's got nerfed to something around 1.5% health. Then it became useless and was eventually removed from the game.

I think Yasuo used it for his tankier builds since it had 15% critical chance.

Since apparantly no one knows... Atmas impaler had 45 armor, 15% crit, and gave you something like 1.5% of your HP as AD.

It was item that primarily found use on garen because his E could crit, but all in all it was a bruiser item from the start. Its nice to see it coming back, because Atmas is a niche item thats really quite nice to have around.
