Autofill - @RIOT please make it stop.

I don't understand, you had a great system, and now you're just messing it up. I let out a cheer when dynamic queue was introduced. Gone were the days of "Mid or troll", and watching people bicker about call order vs pick order. It was a wonderful day. Now I'm sitting here just watching you mess up all your hard work. Playing normal's while waiting for the season to start, I'm watching lvl 27 accounts get matched up vs. diamond 1 players. What is the point of autofill even existing? How does that even happen?

Here are some steps you could take to fix the problem without making your player base cry.

Autofill - Simply make this a TOGGLE-ABLE option for players. Most of us would rather wait longer to get the roles we wish to play. However if it was toggle-able and you wanted a faster queue time, you could turn it on. This would allow the player to choose what best suits their needs.

Dynamic/Flex/Whatever you're calling it this week queue - Get rid of it. Ranked solo queue should be just that. A person should be moving up the ladder based on their skill, not the skill of how many higher ranked people they have on their friends list. It skews the system, as your data has shown. In it's place you should add an in-game system for finding ranked 5 teams looking for roles, much like the clan/guild interface literally every other online game with a massive player base has. That way people seeking team play can find a group of players that they would like to play with, if that's the type of league they would like to play.

I've added a couple poll to help prove my point.

I'd rather wait half an hour to get my role in ranked, normals I dont care.

I dont want to get filled, and I dont want my team to get autofilled either. Teammates get roles they dont play and it just a disadvantage that occurs randomly.

This is complacency because only a few years back, everyone had to be prepared for every role because role selection was not a thing. People need to learn all aspects of this game. That will get rid of every disadvantage because knowing how to play a role means knowing how to play against it.

Yes, that was a few years back, however in that system everyone had an EQUAL chance of getting their role. There was room for discussion IE. "If you put me top I will feed like an African relief org." In this current system 3-4 people get their main roles, and one person gets shafted. I'm ok with getting screwed, if everyone else is getting screwed the same amount.

Agreed with this dude.

I could show a 70% win rate to kids on this system, but since I got support, they wont trade

I've just had my only game this day...as a support. I absolutely love support mains for playing support, because I myself hate it, despite and just can't deal with playing support. There is a very good reason why I went from being a support main/secondary in Season 3 to saying:"Nononononono, I don't want to play support unless I'm with premades and we have some idea how I can have fun on botlane as well."

Seriously, I'll play any other role and most kinds of champions without ever complaining, but I just can't deal with playing support. It makes me play with my mouse only, demotivated, not caring for the game a bit and it just pisses me off. I mean yeah, I could play high damage supports all the time and try to killsteal as much as possible so I can feel like I can be independent and not everybody's bitch, but I also don't want to make my adc and team feel miserable, even though they will because I just can't put enough effort into the game as a support...

To all support mains/secondaries out there: I LOVE YOU GUYS! You make it so I can play games I can actually enjoy and have fun with.

Hey look your poll is ruining your point.

How is 5/1 in my favor ruining my point again? Bad at the maths?

Because if everyone is going to turn off autofill when given the option then queue times explode. An opt-out for auto-fill breaks the system.

Why did you make the poll if not to establish that the system could still work with an opt-out option for autofill?

Because the question is: Would you be ok waiting LONGER for your role?

ie. Autofill is SUPPOSED to reduce queue, but many would trade that "benefit" if it means they get their role instead. So its a feature many did not want.

If everyone turns off auto fill, then the queue time will be longer. That's the only negative. Hence the question "Would you be ok waiting LONGER for your role?". They can still leave autofill on in high level play where the queue time is insane (I believe most masters+ players would decide to turn it on since their queue times can be 30-40 minutes).

It's a pretty big negative, queue times could possibly get up to 20+ minutes in every tier of play when the bottleneck becomes "how many people are willing to support right now?"

See you say that, however if you don't want to wait 20+ minutes, you can just click on autofill. So what's the problem? What point are you trying to make here? You'd rather roll the dice on being shafted, then decide to be shafted?

The fact here is this is a sloppy fix for the real issue. That issue is there is a role that exists in the game that few players want to do. However rather than addressing that issue by improving item choices, and creating some sort of varied play style, they just throw auto fill in because it's ten times less work to code.

Because then I'll get support almost every single game. I get punished because I'm willing to help the queue move faster. That's how it worked last season and it sucked.

It's better for everyone to suffer a little bit by playing a role they don't like once in a while to keep the queue moving faster on average for everyone.
