they won't because ARAM is actually popular

Riot won't care what's popular, if it's not SR, they will at some point remove it.

If it doesn't have a sustainable population. That's the key thing they said in that post: as long as TT stays active, they will support it.

thats just BS.

Why should they remove a Gamemode that is popular for years? Many people play ARAM only, Riot would completly lose that part of the playerbase.

The resources used for ARAM actually pay off.

ARAM isn't going to be removed. Why? Well, for starters -- it's more popular that Twisted Treeline and Dominion (probably combined). That's enough to justify retaining ARAM.

But more importantly, ARAM will not be removed (as a match-making mode) so long as the mode is available via Custom Games. Why? Rito James™ didn't create ARAM as a match-making mode out of generous consideration for the playerbase. That'd be nice to believe, but that's not why. Creating a match-making mode for ARAM largely removed it from Custom Games (or sure, friends still play ARAM via Custom Games). And just like every other map/mode, Custom Games require system resources. By creating an official ARAM match-making queue, the demand for ARAM games is funneled away from Custom Games -- leading to more efficient use of system resources (y'know, the nebulous concept that Rito James™ uses to justify murdering Dominion).

Restricting when players can play ranked 3v3s is just a precursor to murdering Twisted Treeline. Twisted Treeline is more active than Dominion, and has an official ranked queue. That means it'd be much more "difficult" for Rito James™ to just declare the map/mode insufficiently-played to justify retaining. So... Phase 1 is forcing players into playing ranked 3v3 at times designated by Rito James™. And when the playerbase for ranked 3v3 falters (because the players' availability ... conveniently inconveniently ... doesn't match the specified schedule), Rito James™ can claim -- with a semi-straight face -- that the lack of players for 3v3 TT no longer justifies keeping the map a a permanent mode.
