Idea for Tutorial Modes and Teaching People about League

For a while now I've been stuck in low elo. I make some mistakes and my positioning isn't always perfect, these are things I learn over time and in game. I have noticed most low elo players perform poorly because they only know, KILL THE BOT! This got me to thinking about all of the micromanaging involved in the game itself. A lot of this is a team game but YOU have to understand more than just relying on your team and I wonder why lower elo players all seem to play poorly or make a lot of mistakes. Low elo is hell because a lot of low elo players don't understand all of the smaller things that go into a game outside of "KILL, KILL, KILL".

League of Legends does a very poor job of teaching new players about these things. Such as lane freezing, when to roam, when not to chase kills, when to push a lane, etc. Which yes, with enough experience and hardship and discipline you can learn, but some people don't learn things that way and most of the time it's another player flaming them or they take advice the wrong way.

I would love to see interactive tutorials/challenges that teach these things.

For example, in order to pass a challenge you have to have a certain amount of cs before a certain time. You have to push the wave at a certain time, roam at a certain time, etc. These could be broken down into individual challenges so in order to advance you have to complete the previous one. I'm not sure how much bandwidth Riot has to work on something like this, but it would teach players early on a lot of the things that it takes a long time to figure out, even after the road to 30.

Players could be rewarded with skins or Icons for getting challenges perfect. Also have varying levels of challenges so it makes people want to get better to get that higher rating and get that reward. These would be single player challenges so players don't have to worry about carrying they can just focus on that one micro part of the game. Perhaps after all the challenges are complete have a final challenge that incorporates all of the challenges. Hell, there could even be jungle challenges, such as clear in a certain time, or after your first two camps, invade to get enemy red buff or blue buff. These challenges would be open to all players but REQUIRED for new players. Exp could be given after completion to help the level process as well.

I feel this is a better approach than just throwing people in a bot game and telling them to figure it out!

Stuff like when to roam and when to not chase are things that should be left to be learned in game. There is some knowledge that is best left untouched in order to give some form of mastery to the knowledge side of League.

That said stuff like freezing a lane should definitely have a tutorial. That's a mechanic of the map rather than a lesson on decision making.

I can see that point and it is very valid, most of my learning does come from certain experiences that challenges can't teach, but imagine being well aware of those things before being thrown into a competitive atmosphere. Sometimes it is ok to chase, with proper vision etc. I feel this ideal can definitely be expanded upon.

Riot is the manufacturer and maintainer of a game of chess, and there is a tutorial in the bots section to get players up and running with the basic rule set. Beyond the manufactured rules is the knowledge of how interaction plays out, which is dynamic and evolving information similar to the war a body has with antigens vs infections.

What is currently known can and should be shared among players as much as possible, as it feeds the process of developing counters and new tactics that make the game fresh and interesting at all levels of play.
