Midlane Jhin can be a thing only if you don't face an assassin or hard engage midlaner.

Its all in how you play him I've played him everything but jg and can hold it down. It's all in how you use the champ do you drop trap so you don't get caught slipping or to set up an easy snare with deadly flourish instead of trying to poke with it. Are you starting with captive audience or deadly flourish. Starting with dancing grenade is a waist if you ask me.

So is Jhin a mid laner or an ADC?

Yes.

You can do either, but the risk with midlane is that you really don't have escapes or outs except for maybe Flash. So, in midlane, which is surrounded by jungle openings on either side, it's fairly easy for them to come gank you. On top of that, you don't have much mobility, so there's that as well.

ADC is a bit safer I'd say, but can be difficult without a support since most of the time there's 2 people in bot-lane. As for those who say his long-range straight shots make him better in mid, I mean, you can use those in bot too . There is this thing called angling around bends and stuff. And with his ult, you can shoot into pretty much any lane just by standing basically between half-way into top river and half-way into bot river.

He's an Attack Damage Carry, or ADC. Same as fiora, talon, and a lot of other champions. However he is a marksmen, which is what I assume you meant. People like to take him on mid lane because it's easier to aim his ult for kills as it's a straight lane rather then a curved one.

jhin is a MARKSMAN, which is his defined role. He can play in both mid and bot lane, though it's notable that he is weak vs assassins due to his lack of escapes
