I don't understand Singed

So heres the deal, I don't understand Singed as a champion and the role he fulfills on the team. So I was talking to my friend earlier today and asked her "What's the point of singed proxy farming only for him to pretty much guarantee his death. Like, I don't understand why you would so willingly kill yourself for some CS." So she tried clearing it up for me. She said "Here's the deal, Singed can go 0/10 and still be an annoying force to be reckoned with. Basically he proxy farms and gets tons of CS and as a result: Gold. Also, the enemy team takes so long to kill him that he's essentially wasting their time for only one kill." So I guess I see where she's coming from. So essentially if they do decide to "waste their time" and chase him well.... I think we all know what the #1 rule of League is... But I have one problem with this.... The Singed on my team 1/12/0 with 272 CS in 32 minutes. However, even with his massive CS 3 other people matched his gold total of 11k. Furthermore all he did was feed Gnar.... A fed Gnar is.... something I don't think anyone wants to deal with... So was she right? I'd assume so as it sounds pretty legit. Is Gnar a big Singed counter as he can just kite him and deal HP% damage (I think so right?). Was the Singed on our team bad? Someone please explain Singed!!

Singed is an anti pusher in lane, it doesn't really matter if he feeds to a certain extent because he'll keep coming back tankier and tankier and will enviably be worth less gold. He scales well and can be a great way of keeping the attention of the enemy jungler and/or possibly the midlaner.

The trick though when playing with a singed is how his team takes advantage of the unusual pressure he is giving.

In team fights he serves as really good frontline that can charge in and flip low mobile champs into his team.

It's hard to get singed's playstyle right but when you do it's a really tilting experience for the enemy team.

Singed players tend to have good macro play and decision making. Learn how to play LoL and you'll learn how to play singed. Singed420 didn't get to diamond by losing games. :/

Singed does a couple of main things.

1: He pushes lanes. No lane minion, no pressure for enemy team. 2: He pressures towers, see 1 3: He creates distractions/causes delays. Often your team can take a yower, dragon or baron off Singed just messing around in the opposite wave. Or dead team members come back before they can take a tower because Singed took the wave and stood there dancing for long enough to make them chase him instead of achieve something. 4: He kills people. cs=gold=items+adcin2k17=dead adc. New Singed meta gives him some kill pressure early due to seals also. 5: He peels/Picks and does aoe dmg in teamfights.

And yes, Gnar is a hard-ish counter to Singed. Which is why most try to proxy not to deal with the champ.

Exactly. And the mind games also. And trying to make the experty planned actions that look like a fools gambit to work fast enough that your team doesnt abandon you.
