The Problem With Teleport and The Possible Fix
While watching Beyond the Rift today while some Rioters were on they discussed Teleport and possibly making changes to it. QT mention how awful it feels when you are laning versus someone with teleport and all in and do not kill them, then auto lose the lane because they can base and teleport back creating an instant advantage. The Rioters discussed wanting to stop teleport from being a must take for the top lane without ruining the summoner totally and I think I have the fix for teleport.
What if teleport could only go to allies? The teleport user would channel teleport for 4 seconds, after successfully channeling the ally you are teleporting to has 4 seconds to click an icon above their HUD (similar to Kindred) with the Teleport icon on it. Once clicked the ally will channel for 1 second and the teleporting ally will appear next to the target with a brief movement speed buff. Both the teleporters channel and the allies channel can be interrupted and stop the teleport.
This will cause players picking teleport to choose map play over combat summoners putting them at a reasonable laning advantage but giving them a reasonable advantage on the map if they survive the lane. Split pushers could still join Baron and Dragon fights or teleport gank but it would require more team play. The movement speed would help the teleporter get into the fight since whoever they channel on would have to be in a safe spot to not get interrupted.
What do you all think? Just a late night thought on what Teleport could be if changed.
