Shouldn't First pick get the bans?

Odd question...

But, first pick puts you out in a very vulnerable position where you are likely to be countered if your opposing laner happens to have your counter in their champion pool.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the person forced into this awkward situation to have the ability to at least blackball one thing? That one hard, devastating counter?

The people last in the pick order aren't likely to get counter picked since there's no-one left to respond to their pick.

It does make more sense

riot's logic was that the first 2 players already get to pick first, so they gave the bottom players bans to feels impactful in champ select. They didn't want the bottom people left out.

But in reality first picks is only a blessing in pro play, in soloQ it's bad

Just something that got carried over from when the game revolved around pick order.

Being first or second pick made it very likely you got the role you wanted. So the bans were given to 3rd-5th because you were most likely playing an off-role. It was fair at the time, but it didnt make sense once they made the new champ select.

Doesn't matter though, everyone is going to be getting a ban once they switch over to 10 bans

EDIT: I think I'm wrong. I kind of remember first pick getting all 3 bans back then now

It's a moral issue, people who get to pick first get that privilege of picking first.

Playin a norm Me: Wants to play Riven Is first pick Hey, does anyone mind banning Renekton, he's the only one I cant beat in lane. Last pick: Sure thing. Last pick bans Karma Me: wtf? Last pick: no one plays renek in normals you'll be fine Locks in Riven Third pick on enemy locks renekton Me: You little - Feeds major and loses game due to oneshot tanky renekton

Might be a better idea to avoid things like this

They changed it so that 1st pick doesn't get all the say it bans.

In a perfect world where everyone owns all champs (don't see it often) first pick has many benefits like securing high priority champions. Like lets say your Jg last pick wants Lee, you could grab him lee then he grabs you your midlaner or whatever. This often doesn't work because in lower elo 9 times out of 10 players haven't been playing long enough to have all the champions. I have been playing league since beginning season 4 and I still don't own 3 champs.

First pick gets what they want. Last pick get's what they want. It basically balances out the champ select.

You can't use logic like that. Next youll be saying that each of the 6 people in 3 v 3 should get a ban instead of 2 people getting 3 each.

well you dont want the first guy, by chance, to get first pick and bans

I know I'd definitely rather be last pick, as I'm not likely to be countered AND I get to pick one of the last bans to pretty much guarantee I won't be facing Katarina or LeBlanc.

...I need to learn Ryze or Ahri one of these days.

I agree this makes sense, soon though are they not giving us 10 bans?
