AP kogmaw is no where to be found?

I have been playing this dude since midseason start. I am having trouble understanding why he isn't getting more play. I have tried looking up any recent build on it, and the most recent ap kogmaw build is over a year ago and it is kind of bad.

Im not the best player, but with that being said my AP kogmaw kda and dmg per game are outliers to the rest of the champs I play. It has never put me behind in a ranked game.

Every game I go what I used to do in when I first started league : . very simple straight forward build. And for the sixth item I add . a lot of times I will build ludens in place of nashors if I feel like aa's would be unsafe. My seventh item is selling my boots for if needed.

I use a mag pen, move speed, mana regen page.

I go thunderlords.

I max E in lane. q second.

end game, it is over 600 ap. I'm not really trying to put numbers up but look at it yourself. AP kog does very good dmg.

It is honestly the only mid I feel comfortable playing anymore because as much as it is good burst dmg it has safe wave clear and anti tank properties. I personally think it is amazing. Most notably, towers take magic dmg now and it scales with ap. I personally believe it is better than that ridiculous on hit kog that is somehow mainstream.

for a kit to have decent ratios and a defense shredding skill and a spammable execute sounded too good to not abuse to me. I don't get why no one else is even considering it.

Can I get some second opinions here? would anyone mind trying it and tell me what they think? I wanted to keep it to myself until I hit gold but, it bothers me that the season will end soon and no one is even trying it.

Please don't dismiss it with out giving it a try? i feel like there's a right way to play certain champs undeniably, but all i have been seeing for kog is the wrong way. I mean, the dude has the antithesis of an AD ratio, why build ad?
