I overheard from a friend that Karma E (her shield) is gonna be updated soon... so that it wont be able to target minions anymore.
I tried her recently and she still able to do it. So when is that update coming (if coming at all) ?
And do you guys know why we could do it from the start? Seem like a useless thing to do to be able to target the minions with that shield...
A shield can help a minion tank an extra tower shot, for faster tower pushing.
Using Karma's RE on a minion can extend it's range to allies who aren't in your immediate cast range, great for chasing fleeing enemies.
Shielding a minion can prevent an enemy from killing it, meaning they miss out on gold. A decent solo lane tactic is to shield a canon minion so the enemy misses out on a chunk of gold, or forcing them to burn some mana on a spell if really want it.
Pretty much all of Karma's nuance had been removed already, with the removal of her minion shielding it's all gone. Karma is now RQ for poke, RW for emergency heal and RE for teamfight. For someone who doesn't really play Karma it won't make a difference, you might even see as an improvement because you accidently shield a minion from time to time, but for a Karma main this is a huge nerf.
As far as I know its on the pbe right now so it should come out with the next patch. I'm honestly kind of glad it's happening it's the biggest reason I stopped playing karma. I'd always accidently shield a minion instead of my ally or myself...
I believe this is being removed not only for the reasons above, but also for consistency since the ability to buff/heal minions has been habitually removed from every other Support. Soraka's rework removed her capability to heal minions, and Janna can't shield minions either. So I see it as mainly a form of consistency and a means to increase her risk in having to either RE herself or a close by ally to shield bomb. Riot is clearly trying to cut into her without gutting her potential, so I commend them for that.
I really love abusing karma e , causing enemies to miss farm or to attack the tower for a bit longer :(

I deny 7 or so minions per game because I shield them
also you can make sure that waves connect That your siege minions reaches tower first
But yeah if it gets removed its not the end of a world
I ll be sad though
I would be much more useful if she had her shield bomb still, but it is looking like they will never bring it back.
The Q, W Ignite, Shield bomb on minion was actually aids lol...free un-trade-able dmg.
